Nearly two years into Joe Biden\u2019s presidency, U.S. inflation has reportedly climbed <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenateGOP\/status\/1602666891113283584?s=20&#038;t=OLJqoeGoZWt42ojZSdn69A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">13.8 percent<\/a> and is still lingering near the four-decade highs that burdened Americans for the last 24 months.<\/p>\n<p>Gas prices last month may have dropped to an average of <a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$3.25 a gallon<\/a>, but what Americans saved when filling their tanks, they spent on skyrocketing rent and grocery bills. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/pdf\/cpi.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">U.S. Department of Labor\u2019s Bureau of Labor Statistics<\/a>, Americans are now paying 49.1 percent more for eggs, 27 percent more for butter, and 14.7 percent more for milk compared to 2021. For context, in November 2021 the U.S. saw its <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/20\/bidens-christmas-gift-to-america-inflation-debt-and-recession\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">highest inflation in nearly 40 years<\/a> and a seven-year high in gas prices. <\/p>\n<p>Popular holiday items such as airline fare, gift wrap, alcohol away from home, and toys, games, and playground equipment also increased this year by 36 percent, 14.3 percent, 7.1 percent, and 5.1 percent, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>These gloomy numbers do not reflect the information the so-called experts have been feeding the public. Economists told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/opinion\/articles\/2021-12-10\/november-cpi-if-this-is-peak-inflation-what-s-the-path-to-2?leadSource=uverify%20wall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a> last December that the core consumer price index would decrease to 2.5 percent by the end of 2022. One year later, that index, calculated without food and energy costs, sits at 6 percent.<\/p>\n<p>This type of false inflation optimism is not new. For months now, the propaganda press insisted inflation <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/good-news-inflation-peaked-171033972.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cpeaked\u201d<\/a> and will be relenting sometime soon. Even before Biden, the economic prediction game in the U.S. was <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2018\/01\/04\/economists-say-lot-things-theyre-mostly-wrong\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">misleading<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Those stories were largely informed by projections made by the same \u201ceconomists,\u201d \u201cexperts,\u201d and administration officials who <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/02\/01\/these-top-economists-insisted-inflation-wouldnt-happen-until-the-numbers-made-them-look-like-fools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a> most of last year that neither price increases nor Congress\u2019s inflationary spending would make a dent in Americans\u2019 pockets or the U.S. financial ecosystem. <\/p>\n<p>In 2021, when the U.S. faced another round of record-high inflation and an ongoing supply-chain crisis, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalreserve.gov\/newsevents\/speech\/powell20220321a.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hinted<\/a> in a speech that \u201cmoderate inflation forecasts looked plausible\u201d even though \u201c[t]he rise in inflation has been much greater and more persistent than forecasters generally expected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One year later, as Americans bear the burden of even larger price increases in essential goods, Powell is once again expressing confidence that the American economy is well on its way to correction. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is far too early to declare goods inflation vanquished, but if current trends continue, goods prices should begin to exert downward pressure on overall inflation in coming months,\u201d Powell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalreserve.gov\/newsevents\/speech\/powell20221130a.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> in a speech in November. <\/p>\n<p>Ever since Biden assumed office, economic \u201cexperts\u201d like Powell, amplified by the corporate press, have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/02\/01\/these-top-economists-insisted-inflation-wouldnt-happen-until-the-numbers-made-them-look-like-fools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repeatedly underestimated inflation<\/a>\u00a0and tried to downplay the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/11\/04\/why-blue-checks-are-mocking-a-middle-class-familys-12-gallon-a-week-consumption-of-milk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">effects it is having on Americans<\/a>.
