Filipkowski\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RonFilipkowski\/status\/1336339189374152704?s=20&#038;t=PBGOL_GgTu8JWUB6MkjqMQ\">pinned tweet<\/a> is a picture of his resignation letter, a document that calls Jones a \u201chero\u201d and her treatment \u201cunconscionable.\u201d He has never acknowledged the collapse of her tall tale.<\/p>\n<p>CNN\u2019s <strong>John Avlon<\/strong> called the execution of the search warrant \u201ccompletely unacceptable\u201d and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AGHamilton29\/status\/1601325663944060928?s=20&#038;t=PBGOL_GgTu8JWUB6MkjqMQ\">falsely echoed<\/a> Jones\u2019s claim that DeSantis had personally authorized the operation. Avlon deleted his tweet, but has never publicly apologized for promoting Jones and amplifying her lies.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Washington Post\u2019<\/em>s <strong>Marisa Iati<\/strong> actually linked to one of Jones\u2019s GoFundMe accounts (Jones had raised over $500,000 by December 2020 and continues to solicit donations to this day) in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/2020\/06\/12\/rebekah-jones-florida-coronavirus\/\">story<\/a> that credulously described Jones\u2019s unsubstantiated claims as \u201cserious\u201d and offered no further scrutiny of them. She put a bow on the article with the GoFundMe link and a quote from Jones claiming that all she wanted to do was \u201chelp people.\u201d No correction was ever affixed to the story.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alexander Nazaryon<\/strong>, the author of a sprawling longform <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/a-public-health-employee-predicted-floridas-coronavirus-catastrophe-then-she-was-fired-this-is-everything-i-was-trying-to-warn-184810565.html\">hagiography<\/a> of Jones at Yahoo headlined \u201cA public health employee predicted Florida\u2019s coronavirus catastrophe \u2014 then she was fired: \u2018This is everything I was trying to warn people about&#8217;\u201d also promoted Jones\u2019s self-fundraising efforts. Nazaryon has not only failed to correct the record, but has not tweeted about Jones since December 2020,<\/p>\n<p>And MSNBC\u2019s <strong>Lawrence O\u2019Donnell<\/strong> gave Jones the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/transcripts\/transcript-last-word-lawrence-o-donnell-december-8-2020-n1260780\">Last Word\u201d<\/a> on his program, providing her with an enormous platform to uncritically repeat her demonstrably false version of events. \u201cRebekah Jones, thank you very much for joining us. Very, very sorry that you and your family were put through what we all witnessed on that video yesterday morning,\u201d genuflected O\u2019Donnell at the end of her appearance.<\/p>\n<p>Jones has legally admitted to being a criminal after two and a half years of failing to substantiate the underlying reason for why she says she committed her crimes. It\u2019s time that each and every one of her boosters do the bare minimum, grab the loudest microphone available to them, apologize for their motivated gullibility, and urge those who still count them as credible to stop signing checks.<\/p>\n<p>They all praised Jones for being \u201cbrave\u201d enough to tell the \u201ctruth.\u201d If they truly care about the truth, they should be brave enough now to share the truth about Jones with their audiences.<\/p>\n<p><em>This is an opinion piece.
