According to the billionaire entrepreneur, the number of new Twitter users and the amount of time users spend on the site have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/elon-musk-reveals-how-twitters-business-is-doing-under-his-leadership\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increased<\/a> under his leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that Twitter is running well with headcount down significantly really matters,\u201d Atreides Management Chief Investment Officer Gavin Baker <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GavinSBaker\/status\/1601261872296361984\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">remarked<\/a>, adding that many Silicon Valley executives begrudgingly admire Musk. He cited an email from a venture-funded manager dismissing employees and explaining that only top performers would be permitted to keep their posts, recalling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/read-it-elon-musk-sends-blunt-message-to-3700-fired-twitter-employees\">language<\/a> used by Musk as he downsized Twitter in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will start to hear \u2018lighter is faster\u2019 and references to small teams being superior to large teams,\u201d Baker continued. He noted that \u201cstrong CEOs cut early\u201d when the odds of the company\u2019s success are higher, and employees have better prospects on the job market, while \u201cweak CEOs cut late and thereby put everyone at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNature is healing,\u201d Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1602009421022113792\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">replied<\/a>, appearing to reference Silicon Valley\u2019s former culture of scrappy founders stretching every dollar and focusing narrowly on business outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the dismissals, Musk told remaining employees that they should expect \u201cextremely hardcore\u201d working hours if they desire to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/read-it-elon-musk-tells-twitter-staff-to-work-long-hours-at-high-intensity-or-hit-the-road\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stay<\/a> at the company. He added that the firm would become \u201cmuch more engineering-driven,\u201d implying a pivot away from \u201cdesign and product management\u201d emphases.<\/p>\n<p>In the wake of the dismissals at Twitter, executives have faced pressure from investors to reduce bloated payrolls.
