In that role, Ratcliffe oversaw the agencies of the intelligence community. This includes the FBI and Homeland Security Department, agencies that, along with DNI, met with Twitter about \u201celection security,\u201d according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/musk-releases-hunter-biden-files-tweets-deleted-at-behest-of-team-biden-exec-was-key-behind-censorship-decision\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post revealed by journalist Matt Taibbi<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">20. Much of the laptop\u2019s contents, which included details about Hunter\u2019s business dealings, drug use, and sex life, have since been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/technology\/2022\/03\/30\/hunter-biden-laptop-data-examined\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">analyzed and shown to be authentic<\/a>. But at the time of the laptop\u2019s emergence, social media companies, including Twitter, took steps to temporarily suppress the spread of the story, leading to claims of improper election influence by former President Donald Trump and his allies.<\/p>\n<p>Ratcliffe said his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/ratcliffe-hunter-biden-laptop-emails-not-russian-disinformation-campaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">assertion back in October 2020<\/a> that the laptop was not part of a Russian disinformation campaign, as suggested in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/kevin-mccarthy-vows-subpoenas-for-51-intel-veterans-in-hunter-biden-probe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a letter signed by 51 former intelligence officials<\/a>,\u00a0was \u201cthe official position of the intelligence community\u201d and \u201chas never been changed, even to this day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Republicans in Congress are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/incoming-gop-chairman-sends-warning-shot-to-all-twitter-employees-tied-to-hunter-biden-laptop-controversy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gearing up for a Hunter Biden investigation<\/a> with control of the House next year. Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who is positioned to become House speaker, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/kevin-mccarthy-vows-subpoenas-for-51-intel-veterans-in-hunter-biden-probe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said Republicans would subpoena<\/a> the dozens of intelligence veterans who signed onto the letter warning the laptop story \u201chas all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Decrying what he labeled a \u201cdomestic disinformation campaign,\u201d Ratcliffe said one line of inquiry that needs to be pursued relates to former top FBI lawyer James Baker, who as Twitter\u2019s deputy general counsel, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/top-fbi-lawyer-turned-twitter-counsel-supported-decision-to-suppress-hunter-biden-laptop-story-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appeared to support<\/a> the social media site\u2019s move to suppress the New York Post\u2019s reporting on Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop.
