It suffices to say we have a lot more work to do to earn people\u2019s trust on how we work.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;We don\u2019t shadow ban, and we certainly don\u2019t shadow ban based on political viewpoints. We do rank tweets by default to make Twitter more immediately relevant (which can be flipped off),&#8221; Dorsey added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>Weiss&#8217; reporting shows that Twitter did shadow ban under the moniker of &#8220;Visibility Filtering,&#8221; and tagged users in various ways to execute these bans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was tagged with a &#8220;Do Not Amplify&#8221; tag. Talk show host Dan Bongino was tagged with a &#8220;Search Blacklist&#8221; tag which had a similar suppressive consequence.<\/p>\n<p>Several users have commented on Dorsey&#8217;s years&#8217; old tweet. Tim Young wrote, &#8220;Oh see&#8230; it wasn&#8217;t &#8216;shadow banning&#8217; because they called it &#8216;visibility filtering,&#8217; even though it was the exact same thing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>Some called Dorsey out for lying.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>Dorsey linked to an article co-written by former Twitter Head of Legal, Police, and Trust Vijaya Gadde titled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.twitter.com\/official\/en_us\/topics\/company\/2018\/Setting-the-record-straight-on-shadow-banning.html\">Setting the record straight on shadow banning<\/a>.&#8221; In that article she wrote with Twitter co-founder Kayvon Beykpour, &#8220;People are asking us if we shadow ban. We do not.
