The Jets lost 27-22.<\/p>\n<p>However, his father, John Mitchell, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/35212696\/jets-ot-max-mitchell-season-due-blood-clots-says-father\">told<\/a> ESPN on Thursday that his son has a hereditary blood-clotting condition called factor V Leiden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt should not affect his career long term,\u201d John Mitchell said. \u201cOf course, we\u2019re taking a big, great deep breath with all of this, but his future is promising.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>John Mitchell <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/12\/08\/jets-max-mitchell-out-for-season-while-dealing-with-blood-clots\/\">told<\/a> the New York Post that his son \u201cshould be fine\u201d and that the medical condition was \u201can unexpected temporary setback.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was removed from Sunday\u2019s game against the Vikings, his fifth consecutive start, because he was \u201cstruggling,\u201d according to Jets Head Coach Robert Saleh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not going to get into details on what that is right now,\u201d Saleh <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/jets\/2022\/12\/jets-lose-rookie-max-mitchell-for-season-under-mysterious-circumstances.html?outputType=amp\">said<\/a>. \u201cI just know he\u2019s out for the year. I\u2019m not going to get into specifics right now because there\u2019s a lot of things we\u2019re trying to sort out.
