Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/B-21-Raider-2.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/div>\n<p><span><strong>The B-21 Raider Could be the First Step to Rebuilding the United States Air Force:<\/strong> <\/span><span>Though the United States Air Force is the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/worldpopulationreview.com\/country-rankings\/largest-air-forces-in-the-world\"><span> largest aviation service in the world<\/span><\/a><span>, with nearly one and a half times the number of aircraft of Russia and almost two and a half times that of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.19fortyfive.com\/2022\/12\/china-is-mad-canada-will-send-warships-through-the-taiwan-strait\/\">China<\/a>, it was still ranked as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.19fortyfive.com\/2022\/10\/yes-the-u-s-military-is-weak\/\">very weak<\/a>\u201d by the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/military\"><span> Heritage Foundation\u2019s 2023 Index of U.S. Military Strength<\/span><\/a><span>. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<\/p>\n<p><span>At issue were a number of factors, including an ongoing pilot shortage, low flying hours, and aging aircraft.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>The report, which<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/press\/heritage-foundation-releases-2023-index-us-military-strength-gives-us-military-first-ever\"><span> rated the U.S. military in general as weak<\/span><\/a><span>, warned that America\u2019s key adversaries\u2014China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea\u2014are advancing their military capabilities and intimidating U.S. partners.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>The Air Force rating was also a downgrade from an assessment of \u201cweak\u201d in the 2022 Index. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>The conservative think tank further stated that it would be difficult for the Air Force to respond rapidly to a crisis and dominate airspace without increased pilot training and a greater number of fifth-generation weapon systems. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>What is notable about this recent report is that in the inaugural 2015 index, the Air Force was the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.airandspaceforces.com\/air-force-strength-now-very-weak-heritage-foundation-report-says\/\"><span> only service given a rating of \u201cstrong,\u201d<\/span><\/a><span> buoyed by positive marks in capacity and readiness.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Rebuilding the Air Force \u2013 Enter the B-21<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span>The Air Force will have a long way to go to rectify all of the issues it faces, but the road to its recovery may have officially<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.clearancejobs.com\/2022\/12\/03\/the-air-forces-b-21-stealth-bomber-got-a-very-public-unveiling\/\"><span> begun last Friday<\/span><\/a><span> at Northrop Grumman\u2019s Palmdale, California, facilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe unveiling of the B-21 Raider stealth bomber heralds the arrival of the next generation of U.S. aerospace platforms, and lays down the gauntlet to those seeking to challenge American airpower such as Russia and China,\u201d said Harry Boneham, aerospace analyst at international analytics firm GlobalData.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt is expected that the B-21 will enter service in the mid-2020s, and will be followed by the US Air Force\u2019s NGAD and US Navy\u2019s<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.navalnews.com\/naval-news\/2021\/10\/u-s-navy-lifts-veil-on-new-f-a-xx-concept-design\/\"><span> F\/A-XX sixth-generation aircraft<\/span><\/a><span> in the mid-to-late 2030s. When they enter service in the not-too-distant future, they will be a daunting prospect to near-peer adversaries,\u201d Boneham said via an email to <em>19FortyFive<\/em>.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>The B-21 is expected to<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.19fortyfive.com\/2022\/12\/the-b-21-raider-stealth-bomber-is-almost-here\/\"><span> replace both the B-2 Spirit and B-1B Lancer<\/span><\/a><span>, forming the backbone of the US Air Force strategic bomber force alongside the B-52 Stratofortress bombers that are<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.19fortyfive.com\/2022\/08\/yes-the-b-52-bomber-could-fly-for-nearly-100-years\/\"><span> expected to remain in service<\/span><\/a><span> until the 2040s or later.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWith at least 100 platforms to be procured, far exceeding the twenty B-2s in inventory, the Air Force is investing heavily in the B-21\u2019s capability,\u201d Boneham noted. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt could be argued that this is because the Air Force envisages that, in future conflicts, the B-21 will play a different role\u2014or at least supplementary roles\u2014to the B-2 Spirit.\u201d<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>Moreover, the B-21 will not only serve as a strategic deterrent.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>In hypothetical conflicts against adversaries such as China, long-range, stealthy precision strikes against critical sites such as anti-ship missile targets will be a pivotal capability. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>However, the United States Air Force is not alone in developing a new long-range strategic bomber, and rival programs are also progressing.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIn China, a concept aircraft for a sixth-generation fighter for the PLAAF was unveiled at<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thediplomat.com\/2022\/11\/takeaways-from-chinas-zhuhai-air-show-2022\/\"><span> Zhuhai Air Show in 2022<\/span><\/a><span>. This development program is believed to be credibly advancing and could deliver a platform to service in the mid-2030s,\u201d Boneham continued. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis underscores the importance of U.S. progress in the rapid development and delivery of next-gen platforms such as the B-21.
