JOIN US.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The statement said that the \u201cmere fact of a referral or an extension, and the mandatory disclosure of such an extension and the name of the subject of the matter, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No information was released on why the committee was investigating Ocasio-Cortez.<\/p>\n<p>Ocasio-Cortez was the subject of two complaints submitted to the committee last year over her attendance at the Met Gala, the New York Post\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/12\/07\/aoc-subject-of-congressional-ethics-probe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One complaint alleged that Ocasio-Cortez violated rules because she accepted free tickets to the event, which would normally be allowed if it was a charity event and the tickets were provided by the organizers, the report said. However, the Post noted that the group that filed the complaint alleged Ocasio-Cortez should not have been allowed to accept the ticket because \u201cinvitations are controlled by a for-profit company\u201d and \u201ctables at the event are similarly sponsored by corporate entities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The second complaint alleged that the dress Ocasio-Cortez wore to the event, which featured giant red letters stating, \u201cTax The Rich,\u201d constituted accepting a gift that she was not allowed to accept because it was \u201cdirectly related to AOC\u2019s \u2018position with the House\u2019 as a highly visible and controversial Member.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf AOC had not been a Member, she would not have been invited to the Gala and even if she would have been invited as a private citizen, the designer would not have made a special dress for her to wear at the event,\u201d the complaint said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
