JOIN US.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>When asked what her character Kelly would be doing today, Kaling joked that she\u2019d have quit Dunder Mifflin and become a social media influencer, then would \u201cprobably be canceled almost immediately. Actually, most of the characters on that show would be canceled by now,\u201d the actress said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Office\u201d is an incredibly successful American adaptation of the British TV series starring Ricky Gervais. It aired for nine seasons on NBC from 2005 until 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Series co-creator Gervais already acknowledged that the show would be canceled by today\u2019s standards. He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/ricky-gervais-jokes-the-office-would-be-canceled-today\">said<\/a> in 2021, \u201cI mean now it would be canceled. I\u2019m looking forward to when they pick out one thing and try to cancel it. Someone said they might try to cancel it one day, and I say, \u2018Good, let them cancel it. I\u2019ve been paid!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The American version starred Steve Carell, who played Michael Scott on the show. He maintains that he\u2019d never participate in a reboot if it happened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll tell you, no,\u201d Carell <a href=\"https:\/\/collider.com\/steve-carell-no-office-reunion-explained\">said<\/a> in 2018 when asked about participating in a reunion or reboot. \u201cThe show is way more popular now than when it was on the air. I just can\u2019t see it being the same thing, and I think most folks would want it to be the same thing, but it wouldn\u2019t be. Ultimately, I think it\u2019s maybe best to leave well enough alone and just let it exist as what it was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019d literally have to have all of the same writers, the same producers, the same directors, and the same actors, and even with all of those components, it just wouldn\u2019t be the same,\u201d he continued. \u201cSo, no. But, I love the show. It was the most exciting time, and all of those people are my friends. We all love it. It was a special thing. It was a special thing before people thought it was a special thing. It was special to us, before other people started feeling that way.
