Cohen as his\u00a0defense attorney,\u00a0a former assistant United States attorney for the Eastern District of New York, who recently defended <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/breaking-ghislaine-maxwell-sentenced-to-20-years-in-prison\/\">Ghislaine Maxwell<\/a> in her sex trafficking trial.<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His firm,\u00a0Cohen &#038; Gresser, also played a pivotal role in bringing down Mexican druglord Joaqu\u00edn &#8220;El Chapo&#8221; Guzm\u00e1n.<\/p>\n<p><span>Following\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/ftxs-bankman-fried-hires-white-collar-defense-attorney-mark-cohen-2022-12-06\/\">Reuters<\/a><span> reporting the news, Bankman-Fried confirmed the story in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/i\/spaces\/1dRKZMDDblDxB?s=20\">Twitter spaces interview<\/a><span>\u00a0and added that he&#8217;s not sure how he&#8217;s going to pay for it.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p><span>&#8220;In terms of paying legal fees, I&#8217;m still working that out,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I&#8217;m not sure if I will be able to pay all the legal fees.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Bankman-Fried and other FTX executives are under investigation following the disappearance of billions of dollars of client money, followed by the stunning collapse of the company.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Since the news broke last month about Bankman-Fried and FTX, a number of other details have been revealed, such as donations made to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/ftx-funneled-27-million-to-these-democrat-candidates-before-it-imploded\">political candidates<\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Bankman-Fried was the Democrat Party&#8217;s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/revealed-ceo-of-cratering-crypto-firm-ftx-is-dems-second-largest-donor-behind-soros\">second-largest donor<\/a><span>\u00a0behind George Soros, and the company has been accused of\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/a-question-worth-asking-elon-musk-weighs-in-on-money-laundering-allegations-against-ftx\">laundering money<\/a><span> for Democrats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He also donated the maximum amount possible to the six Republicans who voted to impeach Donald Trump, as well as $1 million to a Sen. Mitch McConnell-backed super PAC.<\/p>\n<p>He maintains that he didn&#8217;t\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/disgraced-ftx-ceo-tells-new-york-times-audience-he-didnt-ever-try-to-commit-fraud\">try to commit fraud<\/a>, and told The New York Times, &#8220;I&#8217;m deeply sorry about what happened,&#8221; believing himself to not be criminally responsible.<\/p>\n<p>While Bankman-Fried and other executives haven&#8217;t been charged with any crimes, they also face a number of civil lawsuits from FTX customers who lost money.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried has hired Mark S.
