I stole you from Pauly [Shore] and said, \u2018Get over here.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs that how it shook out? Get out of here,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/my-mother-didnt-raise-a-hypocrite-brendan-fraser-explains-why-fans-wont-see-him-at-golden-globes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fraser<\/a> replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat went first? \u2018Airheads\u2019 or \u2018Encino Man\u2019?\u201d Sandler asked, referencing Fraser\u2019s 1992 comedy that co-starred Pauly Shore and \u201cThe Lord of the Rings\u201d actor Sean Astin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEncino Man,\u201d Fraser acknowledged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSee, and I saw you and I was like, this guy shouldn\u2019t just be a caveman \u2014 he should be in a band,\u201d Sandler continued, prompting a laugh from Fraser \u2014 and then more questions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did not \u2014 and then, what, you went to Michael?\u201d he asked. \u201cMichael Lehmann was <em>very <\/em>against you. He was like, \u2018I don\u2019t get it. I don\u2019t see the caveman being in this movie.\u2019 And I just said, \u2018He can do other s***, man,\u2019\u201d Sandler kept going, every brief pause punctuated by more laughter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre you pulling my chain right now?\u201d Fraser asked, clearly struggling to wrap his brain around Sandler\u2019s version of events \u2014 but Sandler insisted: \u201c100%\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI eventually went to his house at like 4 in the morning, woke him up, and he\u2019s like, \u2018Who are you?\u2019\u201d Sandler added. \u201cI said, \u2018Never mind that, but just know Adam Sandler ain\u2019t going to be in \u2018Airheads\u2019 unless old Fraser is in it.\u2019 So he changed his little tune.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fraser started pushing back then \u2014\u00a0pointing out the fact that Lehmann had actually flown to Chicago to meet him \u2014 but Sandler was adamant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a filthy liar. He didn\u2019t want you,\u201d the \u201cHappy Gilmore\u201d star said. \u201cI did, and the rest is pretty good. You had a good life because of me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sandler went on to say that actor Pauly Shore hadn\u2019t wanted Fraser to do \u201cAirheads\u201d either, but that he had stuck to his guns.<\/p>\n<p>The two continued to discuss the film \u2014 which also starred Steve Buscemi, David Arquette, Joe Mantegna, and Chris Farley \u2014 noting that everyone involved had been especially proud to learn they were shooting the film on the same location where Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman had shot \u201cDie Hard\u201d just a few years earlier.<\/p>\n<p>And while he said that it was definitely one of the most fun shoots of his life, Sandler also recalled a stunt that went a little bit sideways \u2014 and could have hurt him very badly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe jumped off a parking structure. Crowd surfed,\u201d Fraser began the story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know if I told you recently, but we jumped off the thing, landed on a mat maybe 15 feet below us,\u201d Sandler picked up the tale. \u201cNot that big of a stunt. I thought for sure I can handle that. I landed in such a stiff way that I heard my neck go [<em>crack<\/em>], but I didn\u2019t want to say anything because I would be humiliated. You two guys got up laughing, you and Buscemi. I was like, I\u2019m supposed to laugh but \u2014\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou completely collapsed your neck backwards!\u201d Fraser exclaimed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was awful. I was never a gymnast. I would go on the trampoline at the Jewish Community Center growing up, saw everyone else do well on it. I had the same thing happen to my neck when I was 9. I\u2019m not good at jumping and landing on my back.
