So, I mean, you got to use some common sense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fauci stated, \u201cWhat we\u2019re saying right now, even though it isn\u2019t backed by data, it\u2019s backed by common sense that if you have two vaccinated people, and they want to get together, be they family members, or friends that you know, are vaccinated, you can start getting, as individual people, even though the risk is not zero.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those statements came during an <a href=\"http:\/\/transcripts.cnn.com\/TRANSCRIPTS\/2102\/25\/CPT.01.html\">exchange<\/a> with CNN\u2019s Chris Cuomo. Fauci stated that the vaccines being administered are not the single factor responsible for the drop in cases. \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s the single factor,\u201d he said. \u201cI think it\u2019s a combination of a number of things.\u00a0We had a really very steep inflection upward. You can\u2019t keep going up that long, because of the factors that got you there may no longer be present, namely, the holiday season and things like that. So, there\u2019s a natural turnaround.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I think what you\u2019re going to start seeing really soon, we\u2019ve had some very serious discussions, with our colleagues at the CDC, is that what happens when you get two vaccinated people?\u201d Fauci said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m vaccinated, my wife vaccinated, my daughters vaccinated,\u201d he continued. \u201cBack before vaccination, if they wanted to come to visit you, they\u2019d have to quarantine for a while, get tested, wear a mask.\u00a0What we\u2019re saying right now, even though it isn\u2019t backed by data, it\u2019s backed by common sense that if you have two vaccinated people, and they want to get together, be they family members, or friends that you know, are vaccinated, you can start getting, as individual people, even though the risk is not zero.\u00a0The risk becomes extremely low when you have both parties vaccinated. So, we\u2019re going to start seeing people saying, \u2018Hey, the more people get vaccinated, I can have dinner with my family member that comes in.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo said, \u201cI get it on a personal basis. I get it on a household-by-household [basis]. But when do you think we\u2019ll start seeing, \u2018Hey, if you\u2019re vaccinated, you can go to this restaurant?\u2019 There\u2019s no capacity restrictions for vaccinated people or travel or work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fauci responded, \u201cI think you\u2019re going to see a gradual increment of that where you could start doing things normal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s going to be a benefit both personally, socially, and from a public health standpoint of people getting vaccinated,\u201d he continued. \u201cWe understand that when people were getting vaccinated, were saying \u2018Well, wait a minute, we\u2019re not really quite sure about things,\u2019 and people were naturally complaining and saying, \u2018Well, wait a minute, why am I going to get vaccinated? Why can\u2019t I do things that I really want to do personally?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fauci concluded, \u201cAnd you\u2019re going to start seeing, I know I\u2019m going to tell you myself, my professional expert \u2014 my professional judgment is that when my daughter wants to come in here and she\u2019s doubly-vaccinated, I\u2019m going to have her over the house, and I\u2019m going to give her a big hug that I haven\u2019t been able to do for a year.
