Brian Kemp signed the bill known as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/GA\/text\/SB202\/id\/2348602\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SB 202<\/a>\u00a0into law in March 2021, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/news\/2021-all-star-game-draft-relocated\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a> announcing the league would be relocating its annual All-Star Game to Colorado in protest of the measure. In his comments, Manfred <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/news\/2021-all-star-game-draft-relocated\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">falsely claimed<\/a> that SB 202 creates \u201crestrictions to the ballot box\u201d and hinders citizens\u2019 ability to vote.<\/p>\n<p>This decision was \u201cthe best way to demonstrate our values as a sport,\u201d Manfred said. \u201cFair access to voting continues to have our game\u2019s unwavering support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The move by the league did not come without consequences, however. Georgia\u2019s economy took a massive hit as a result of the decision to move the game out of Atlanta, with some business leaders <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/mlb-all-star-game-atlanta-small-businesses-crushing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">estimating<\/a> \u201cupwards of $100 million\u201d in lost revenue.<\/p>\n<p>Groups such as the Honest Elections Project have since called out the league for its ruinous choice, sending mobile billboards with critical ads to the MLB\u2019s 2022 winter meeting in San Diego, California, this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMLB LIED about Georgia\u2019s election law and moved the All-Star Game,\u201d one of the ads reads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMLB should APOLOGIZE to Georgia for its $100 million lie,\u201d another said.<\/p>\n<p>The MLB did not respond to The Federalist\u2019s request for comment on whether it intends to apologize to Georgia for its costly choice to move the 2021 All-Star Game.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">When <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MLB?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MLB<\/a> moved the All Star Game, it cost Atlanta $100M. <\/p>\n<p>But despite MLB lies, Georgia\u2019s November election was a grand slam.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what the MLB is seeing today \ud83d\udc47 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3nb7CIzY2J\">pic.twitter.com\/3nb7CIzY2J<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jason Snead (@jasonwsnead) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jasonwsnead\/status\/1599884534635692032?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 5, 2022<\/a>  <\/p>\n<p>Despite its purported consultation with league teams and players, the MLB\u2019s decision to move the game did not come without outside pressure. Democrat politicians, including President Joe Biden, were among those <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/09\/26\/biden-hosts-atlanta-braves-at-white-house-after-pushing-mlb-to-boycott-their-city-for-all-star-game\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">intimidating<\/a> the league to relocate the competition as a form of protest against Georgia\u2019s election law. In an interview with ESPN, Biden grossly labeled the law as \u201cJim Crow on steroids\u201d and spewed numerous lies about its contents, falsely claiming that polling places would be mandated to close by 5 p.m. <\/p>\n<p>Georgia Democrats such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gop.com\/rapid-response\/warnock-meet-warnock-on-voter-id\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sen. Raphael Warnock<\/a> and gubernatorial candidate and imaginary Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/gop.com\/rapid-response\/stacey-abrams-cant-stop-lying\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stacey Abrams<\/a> also added fuel to the fire with their respective tarnishing of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/06\/22\/poll-80-percent-of-americans-support-voter-id-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">broadly supported<\/a> election integrity measures like voter ID requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to the MLB and Democrats\u2019 slanderous assertions, Georgia\u2019s voting law does not make it more difficult for citizens to cast their ballots in state elections. As The Federalist previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/12\/05\/after-georgias-record-voter-turnout-when-will-coca-cola-apologize-for-lying-about-state-election-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, SB 202 includes provisions that prohibit individuals from giving voters gifts or money within 150 feet of a polling place and expand early voting statewide.
