I cannot tell you how hard I\u2019ve been pushing for that. I want it too,\u201d the actress said of a future project with their lesbian romance front and center.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When asked who should play Poison Ivy opposite her, she said, \u201cHonestly, when I pictured, I always picture like Poison Ivy in the comics. A 2020 episode of the adult animated TV series \u201cHarley Quinn\u201d featured the first kiss between Harley and Poison Ivy. Some fans started calling the couple \u201cHarlivy\u201d after the reality of their romantic feelings became clear.<\/p>\n<p>Series co-creator Justin Halpern <a href=\"https:\/\/comicbook.com\/dc\/news\/harley-quinn-showrunners-confirm-harlivy-romance-season-two\/\">explained<\/a> to ComicBook.com, \u201cWe tried to play the reality of how messy, uncomfortable, and awkward it would be to figure out that you\u2019re in love with your best friend. It\u2019s messy, it takes a while, and it\u2019s not smooth at all. And there are definitely a lot of two steps forward, one step back kind of thing going on.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For now, it\u2019s unclear if Robbie will reprise her role as Harley Quinn in the future. Next up to take on the character is Lady Gaga opposite Joaquin Phoenix in \u201cJoker: Folie A Deux,\u201d which is scheduled to be released in October 2024. The publication notes that since \u201cJoker\u201d is not set in the same cosmos as the DC Extended Universe, it means Lady Gaga isn\u2019t technically replacing Robbie.<\/p>\n<p>Robbie said she\u2019s excited to see the \u201cBad Romance\u201d singer interpret the character.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning that all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, the way Macbeth or Batman, always gets passed from great actor to great actor,\u201d Robbie told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=n88nYIEBQSU&#038;t=493s\">MTV News<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026 It\u2019s such an honor to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors get to have a go at playing.
