GOP condemnation of the policy has<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/patriotism-unity\/gop-senators-demand-an-end-to-covid-19-vaccine-mandate-in-us-military\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reemerged<\/a><br \/>\n as Congress debates the 2023<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ndaa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Defense Authorization Act<\/a><br \/>\n.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecretary Austin&#8217;s been very clear that he opposes repeal of the vaccine mandate, and the president actually concurs with the Secretary of Defense,\u201d National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Monday. \u201cHe continues to believe that all Americans, including those in the armed forces, should be vaccinated and boosted or COVID-19.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>House Minority Leader<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kevin-mccarthy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kevin McCarthy<\/a><br \/>\n (R-CA) said over the weekend that the NDAA will include the reversal of the vaccine mandate \u2014 \u201cotherwise, the bill will not move.\u201d McCarthy is in line to be speaker in the next Congress.<\/p>\n<p><b><br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense-national-security\/ukraine-aid-restrictions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FORMER NATO CHIEF CALLS ON US TO LIFT \u2018SELF-IMPOSED RESTRICTIONS\u2019 ON UKRAINE AID<\/a><br \/>\n<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve been very clear with the president. The president &#8230; worked with me on this. This is the first sign of having divided government. You got some compromise here. And we&#8217;ve got something that Republicans have been working very hard, and a number of Democrats, too, trying to find success,\u201d he<br \/>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/mccarthy-vows-military-vaccine-mandate-end-national-defense-bill-wont-move-forward\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a><br \/>\n on Fox News Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>In light of McCarthy\u2019s remarks, a White House official said the president informed the California lawmaker that \u201che would consider it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Leader McCarthy raised this with the president, and the president told him he would consider it,&#8221; White House spokeswoman Olivia Dalton said. &#8220;The secretary of defense has recommended retaining the mandate, and the president supports his position. We lost hundreds in DOD.
