Soros\u2019 Open Society Foundations funneled at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensocietyfoundations.org\/grants\/past?filter_keyword=Project+Syndicate\">$1,532,105<\/a> into Project Syndicate between 2018 and 2020. [Emphasis added.]\n<p>Project Syndicate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.project-syndicate.org\/about\">claims<\/a> to be active in 158 countries, work with 508 media outlets and publish in 66 different languages.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, the inflation-rattled world economy is facing a trifecta of \u201ceconomic, financial, and debt crises, following the explosion of deficits, borrowing, and leverage in recent decades,\u201d according to Roubini. Regarding explicit debts, Roubini noted \u201cthe figures are staggering.\u201d In the U.S., total private- and public-sector debt is \u201c420%, which is higher than during the Great Depression and after World War II.\u201d The state of the economy is so precarious according to Roubini that the potential forthcoming crash is projected to be worse than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebalancemoney.com\/2008-financial-crisis-3305679\">2008<\/a>:\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Unlike in the 2008 financial crisis and the early months of COVID-19, simply bailing out private and public agents with loose macro policies would pour more gasoline on the inflationary fire.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Roubini\u2019s arguments upset any liberal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/business\/joseph-vazquez\/2022\/11\/23\/full-hot-air-paul-krugman-cries-gop-will-undermine-bidens\">media pontification<\/a> that the Biden economy is somehow doing well.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" class=\"image-blog_image_100_ img-fluid blog-img\" data-insert-attach=\"{\" id \/> Roubini noted that the spike in \u201cunsustainable debt\u201d ratios imply that borrowers were insolvent \u201c\u2018zombies\u2019 that were being propped up by low interest rates (which kept their debt-servicing costs manageable).\u201d These borrowers include households, corporations, banks, shadow banks, governments, and even entire countries, Roubini wrote. However, sky-high inflation \u201c\u2013 fed by the same ultra-loose fiscal, monetary, and credit policies \u2013 has ended this financial Dawn of the Dead.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The economist concluded that the world is teetering on the verge of a stagflation crisis that could potentially eclipse the economic turmoil of the 1970s:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n[T]hese developments are coinciding with the return of stagflation (high inflation alongside weak growth). The last time advanced economies experienced such conditions was in the 1970s. But at least back then, debt ratios were very low. Today, we are facing the worst aspects of the 1970s (stagflationary shocks) alongside the worst aspects of the global financial crisis.
