Sulzberger and Theater Editor Nicole Herrington says, in part.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be clear, we respect Mr. Green\u2019s right to be critical of the show. What we are asking you to address is the cultural insensitivity, underlying ignorance of and distaste for K-pop as a genre and what comes across as casual racism in his review,\u201d it continues, per the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/12\/04\/kpop-musical-demands-apology-after-racist-new-york-times-review\/\">New York Post<\/a>. \u201cThat this would be the case in The New York Times is, frankly, astonishing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter, written by producers Tim Forbes and Joey Parnes, asks, \u201cIs a Broadway show valid only if it is centered on and catering exclusively to a white, English-speaking audience?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><a class=\"c-link\" tabindex=\"-1\" href=\"https:\/\/get.dailywire.com\/subscribe\/plus?utm_campaign=dwplus&#038;utm_medium=editorial&#038;utm_source=dwsite&#038;cid=dwplus&#038;mid=z&#038;xid=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/get.dailywire.com\/subscribe\/plus?utm_campaign=dwplus&#038;utm_medium=editorial&#038;utm_source=dwsite&#038;cid=dwplus&#038;mid=z&#038;xid=0\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" data-remove-tab-index=\"true\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-10632\">TIRED OF THE LEGACY MEDIA\u2019S BIAS CONTROLLING THE NARRATIVE AND OBSCURING THE TRUTH? JOIN US AND SAVE 30%.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Several \u201cKPOP\u201d cast members also called out the review, with actor Andrew Lim taking issue with Green using the descriptor \u201csquint-inducing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lim said Green\u2019s word choice was an act of \u201cdisrespect\u201d and said Green should \u201cfind better words.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you are not an Asian American that has been made fun of for their squinty eyes or their slanty eyes, I\u2019m sorry, I don\u2019t want to hear from you right now. You can take a seat,\u201d Lim <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Clh_iXMLpfw\/\">shared<\/a> on Instagram.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Green\u2019s review mostly focuses on how the show would only be entertaining for fans with some prior knowledge of the Korean pop music genre.
