Marjorie Taylor Greene\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@RepMTG) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepMTG\/status\/1599415430153572352?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">December 4, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That isn\u2019t the only questionable action that is raising eyebrows when it comes to Katie Hobbs.<\/p>\n<p>Her top deputy, Arizona State Elections Director Kori Lorick <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/12\/01\/katie-hobbs-threatened-county-arrest-prosecution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">threatened <\/a>the Mohave County Board of Supervisors with criminal charges if they didn\u2019t certify Hobbs as the winner in time for the Nov. 28 certification deadline. Lorick sent letters that included threats of lawsuits against the board members for \u201cnonfeasance,\u201d as well, according to emails.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe Secretary of State did contact our County and cited A.R.S. Section 16-1010 as a statute that could be used to prosecute [the board] if they did not certify the election,\u201d said Matt Smith, the Mohave County Attorney, to the DCNF. The statute is an Arizona felony statute regarding election officials who \u201cfail to perform their duties\u201d under the law; as a Class 6 felony, upon conviction, it could result in up to two years\u2019 imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe threat of legal action, including personally, came from the Arizona State Elections Director [Kori Lorick],\u201d said the board\u2019s chair-elect, Supervisor Travis Linginfelter. While previous reporting noted that the board\u2019s members were warned of prosecution by their counsel, the board\u2019s members have now stated that the threats came from Lorick, who reports to Hobbs, as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur office will take all legal action necessary to ensure that Arizona\u2019s voters have their votes counted, including referring the individual supervisors who vote not to certify for criminal enforcement under A.R.S. 16-1010,\u201d Lorick wrote in an email to the board obtained by the DCNF. Governor-elect Hobbs has neither resigned as Secretary of State nor recused herself from election oversight and certification.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Mojave County wanted more time to review election integrity issues, and there were a lot of questions about the machines on the day of the election, as we reported.<\/p>\n<p>Mojave ended up certifying the results, perhaps a small wonder given they were being threatened by the office of Katie Hobbs, who wanted them to certify her. The Supervisor and Chair Ron Gould said they did it \u201cunder duress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cochise County also had election concerns and is being sued by Hobbs\u2019 office. But they were forced by a court order to certify the results. Now, her office is also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2022\/12\/02\/2-cochise-county-supervisors-are-the-subject-of-a-criminal-referral\/69696538007\/?utm_source=azcentral-AZBriefing&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=baseline_greeting&amp;utm_term=hero&amp;utm_content=PPHX-1531AR-E-NLETTER02\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">referring two supervisors<\/a> for criminal action for delaying the canvas.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a big problem when you have the Secretary of State interested in the results and then threatening board members, whatever the objections or concerns of the board members might be. Her office shouldn\u2019t have been involved in doing any of this action\u2013and\/or she should have distanced herself from any such responses.
