We\u2019ll see. If the movie doesn\u2019t make money, then, maybe, the honeymoon\u2019s over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cameron, now 68 years old, said that he has changed as he has gotten older as his \u201cF-bomb-laden shouting matches with executives is behind him,\u201d the publication said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of things I did earlier, I wouldn\u2019t do \u2014 career-wise and just risks that you take as a wild, testosterone-poisoned young man,\u201d he said. \u201cI always think of [testosterone] as a toxin that you have to slowly work out of your system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"tl\" dir=\"ltr\">Testosterone rocks ngl<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1599345615443746817?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 4, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the interview, Cameron <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/titanic-director-says-diva-like-attitude-almost-cost-leonardo-dicaprio-his-iconic-role\">said<\/a> that Leonardo DiCaprio\u2019s \u201cdiva-like attitude\u201d nearly cost him the iconic role of Jack in the 1997 blockbuster \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/young-actor-shares-advice-he-got-from-leonardo-dicaprio-early-in-his-career\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Titanic<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cameron explained that his first meeting with <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/thank-you-leo-christian-bale-claims-hes-only-gotten-leonardo-dicaprios-rejects-in-hollywood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DiCaprio<\/a> actually went very well \u2014 although he noted that he was amused by the fact that all of the women associated with the production suddenly had a reason to be in the room for the actor\u2019s first appearance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was a meeting with Leo and there was a screen test with Leo,\u201d Cameron reflected, adding, \u201cSo the meeting was funny, because I\u2019m in my conference room waiting to meet an actor, right? And I look around, and all the women in the entire office are in the meeting for some reason. Like, there\u2019s a female executive producer, okay, fine. But our accountant? You know, why was she in the meeting?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cameron laughed again, saying that he realized as he looked around the room that they had all just wanted to meet DiCaprio.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo Leo came in \u2014 of course, charmed everybody, myself included,\u201d Cameron continued, noting that actress Kate Winslet had already been chosen to play the part of Rose. \u201cAnd I said, \u2018Alright, let\u2019s see what your chemistry\u2019s like with Kate.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So DiCaprio was asked to come back for a meeting with Winslet, and he agreed \u2014 but when he arrived and Cameron asked him to read with her, the \u201cRomeo + Juliet\u201d star balked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said, \u2018You mean I\u2019m reading?\u2019\u201d Cameron recalled. \u201cAnd I said, \u2018Yeah.\u2019 He said, \u2018Oh, I don\u2019t read.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cAvatar\u201d director\u2019s response was to immediately thank DiCaprio for his time, at which point Cameron said the actor back-pedaled quickly.\u00a0\u201cHe said, \u2018Wait, wait, wait. You mean if I don\u2019t read, I don\u2019t get the part? Just like that?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cameron said his reply was simple: \u201cI said, \u2018Oh, yeah. Come on. This is, like, a giant movie that\u2019s gonna take two years of my life \u2026 so I\u2019m not gonna f*** it up by making the wrong decision in casting.
