The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/major-companies-remove-advertisements-from-twitter-over-child-pornography-allegations\">report<\/a> allegedly found more than 500 accounts soliciting child sex abuse material that appeared alongside or on profile pages of at least 30 major advertisers\u2019 Twitter accounts, which led some of those companies to pull or pause their ad services from the social media platform.<\/p>\n<p>Following his initial analysis last September, Stroppa and Twitter\u2019s Trust and Safety team said the social media platform had updated a mechanism to detect past and present content related to CSAM at a much \u201cfaster, more efficient, and more aggressive\u201d speed, which has approximately doubled the daily suspension rate of accounts promoting the egregious material.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo mercy for those who are involved in these illegal activities,\u201d Stroppa said, adding Twitter will find such \u201cillicit\u201d content and act accordingly despite when it had been published.<\/p>\n<p>Child pornography and other sexual abuse material on Twitter has been documented on the platform for well over the last decade. Just last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.missingkids.org\/content\/dam\/missingkids\/pdfs\/2021-reports-by-esp.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">86,666 CSAM reports<\/a>\u00a0were made to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.<\/p>\n<p>When Elon Musk purchased the platform in October, he inherited two major lawsuits involving two minor survivors that were allegedly exploited on that platform. One such case garnered 160,000 views and over 2000 retweets that Twitter allegedly refused to remove the content despite the minor survivor begging for its removal while on the brink of suicide.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t until the Department of Homeland Security stepped in that the survivor\u2019s sexual abuse material was removed.<\/p>\n<p>Stroppa said within a 24-hour time frame, the platform ramped up its efforts to crack down on \u201csuspicious accounts,\u201d which led to the removal of 44,000 handles and 1,300 profiles that used strategic communication methods to bypass detection using codewords and text in images \u2014 many of which came from networks with Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking users that share child sexual exploitation content.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cZero tolerance,\u201d Stroppa said, adding Twitter has involved independent experts in increasing its ability to protect children\u2019s safety.<\/p>\n<p>Eliza Bleu, a survivor advocate of those affected by human trafficking, has been speaking out against Twitter\u2019s child pornography problem since shortly after joining the platform in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Bleu told The Daily Wire she was \u201cfloored\u201d after seeing the latest report of how many profiles were removed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think I thought any of this stuff was possible at the scale that they\u2019re removing it now,\u201d Bleu said. \u201cThe only thing is they\u2019re just gonna have to keep it up, keep innovating, and continue to make it their top priority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like I\u2019m witnessing a miracle,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>During a Twitter Space on the platform Saturday in which Musk spent hours answering questions from prominent users, Bleu stepped up to the virtual stage and spoke about her efforts in the crusade to seek justice for all those who have been affected by child sex trafficking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwitter had always put profits over the lives of minor survivors,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Bleu highlighted how Stroppa and the platform\u2019s reformed Trust and Safety team have significantly cracked down on the material compared to the issue under Twitter\u2019s previous ownership.<\/p>\n<p>For context, one previous <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/business\/india-business\/twitter-bans-over-57k-accounts-for-promoting-child-porn-nudity-in-india\/articleshow\/94589378.cms\">report <\/a>showed the platform removed as many as approximately 57,000 profiles in one month before Musk\u2019s acquisition compared to the 44,000 removed in a single day.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A bit of me speaking tonight with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MarioNawfal?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MarioNawfal<\/a> on Spaces. <\/p>\n<p>Press Play. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ajDqdI6a9q\">pic.twitter.com\/ajDqdI6a9q<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Eliza (@elizableu) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elizableu\/status\/1599271463005351941?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 4, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Musk thanked Bleu and Stroppa during the Twitter space, which Bleu told The Daily Wire she was \u201cgrateful to be acknowledged\u201d for her years of work advocating for survivors.<\/p>\n<p>Stroppa said Twitter continues to develop teams \u201ccomposed of passionate experts\u201d dedicated to investigating and taking action on such types of violations on a daily basis with simplified processes for users to report the illicit content.<\/p>\n<p>Stroppa attributed Twitter\u2019s vigorous fight against child sexual exploitation content on the platform to Musk, who recently said removing such content has become the company\u2019s number one priority \u2014 even in the midst of the company releasing information that showed the platform allegedly worked in conjunction with then-Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden\u2019s team by removing tweets tied to the New York Post\u2019s bombshell report about Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwitter is now a safer place under Elon\u2019s leadership,\u201d Stroppa said. \u201cAnd this is just the beginning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk publicly acknowledged Stroppa on Twitter, thanking him for \u201chelping with this important problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Thank you for helping with this important problem<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1599127187461849088?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 3, 2022<\/p>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A cyber security and data analyst funding research into Twitter\u2019s alleged child sexual abuse material (CSAM) problem said Saturday that the platform has nearly doubled its daily suspension rate on accounts that share exploitative content containing child pornography.
