Authorities then prepared to arrest her when Christie\u2019s niece allegedly turned violent and injured six deputies. Epstein reportedly kicked one officer in the groin and bit another.<\/p>\n<p>Law enforcement eventually handcuffed Epstein to a wheelchair to remove her from the plane. She was charged with six counts of battery, three counts of disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nola.com\/news\/crime_police\/chris-christies-niece-bites-officers-at-new-orleans-airport\/article_592e7ee2-728d-11ed-9b91-9345a9dda9b2.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to<\/a> NOLA.com.<\/p>\n<p>Epstein paid bail of $10,750 and was released on the same day the alleged incident took place. She is scheduled to return to Jefferson Parish for court on January 23, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire has reached out to Spirit Airlines for more information. No statement has been made at this time. Christie, a 2016 Republican presidential candidate, has not commented on the alleged altercation.<\/p>\n<p>A growing number of incidents regarding unruly passengers has occurred over the past two years, many in connection with mask-wearing requirements on airplanes during COVID restrictions. In 2021, 1,099 unruly passenger cases were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/data_research\/passengers_cargo\/unruly_passengers#:~:text=The%20repercussions%20for%20passengers%20who,violation%20for%20unruly%20passenger%20cases.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documented<\/a> but the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), with numbers dropping but still high, with 767 so far in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Bryan Del Monte, president of The Aviation Agency, said last year that he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/04\/07\/unruly-passengers-on-flights-why-people-act-out-despite-the-risks.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supports<\/a> Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian\u2019s call for a national \u201cno-fly\u201d list for unruly passengers, though the idea has not moved forward. Bastian said Delta had banned at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/02\/05\/delta-asks-the-justice-department-to-put-unruly-travelers-on-a-no-fly-list.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1,900 people<\/a> for mask-related issues alone.
