The\u00a0\u201cTwitter Files\u201d are a trove of documents revealing the Twitter\u2019s censorship activities in the lead up to the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>Musk joked that given the revelations in the files and his expressed plans to ensure that political powers have no undisclosed influence at the company going forward, powerful figures and institutions may want him out of the way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwitter is the one company that\u2019s no longer colluding and is no longer just going with this NPC group think, I should probably increase my security or something,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>NPC derived from non-player character in video games, an internet meme that describes people who follow the mainstream narrative rather than think for themselves and make their own decisions.<\/p>\n<p>The series of internal Twitter communications, released by Musk\u2019s new leadership of Twitter and independent journalist Matt Taibbi on Friday, unveiled communications showing how former Twitter executives censored reports about Hunter Biden\u2019s infamous laptop in the lead up to the 2020 presidential election. Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/elon-musk-twitter-has-interfered-in-elections_4896011.html\">said<\/a> earlier in the week that this amounted to election interference.<\/p>\n<p>The billionaire on Saturday also denied claims on media reports about Twitter being \u201csome sort of right-wing hellscape,\u201d saying it\u2019s \u201cabsolutely isn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd in fact there are far fewer bots, far fewer trolls and it\u2019s actually, I think, way more fun and interesting. And we\u2019re seeing that in the user minutes and in the daily average users.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk said that Twitter\u2019s censorship had been biased toward Democrats candidates, noting there was \u201ca very different standard applied to Republican candidates in the U.S. versus a Democrat candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not saying this is definitely the case. There appears to have been a double standard where Democrats were not censored and left causes were not censored but right causes and Republicans were,\u201d he told Q&#038;A session audience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think this is frankly obvious to anyone who uses Twitter without any extra exposure of Twitter files. It was not even-handed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The billionaire commented that Twitter\u2019s censorship of people on the right side of politics was \u201cfrankly the behavior that is to be expected from an organization that is that is based in San Francisco, which is far left.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo from their standpoint, it wouldn\u2019t seem like that they\u2019re being unfair,\u201d he noted. \u201cIt\u2019s simply how they see the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Apple Resumes Advertising<\/h2>\n<p>During the Q&#038;A session, Musk also addressed claims that many advertisers are fleeing Twitter after he took over the platform and made sweeping changes to both staff and the system, such as easing many of Twitter\u2019s content moderation practices.<\/p>\n<p>The Tesla CEO said that Apple, which is Twitter\u2019s \u201csingle biggest advertiser historically and presently,\u201d has fully resumed advertising, \u201cwhich is appreciated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we\u2019re starting to see a lot of other advertisers also resume their spending,\u201d he added.\u00a0\u201cI think people would read all these stories in the media and then think that they were true, and they\u2019re not true.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"author_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"one_author_block round\">\n<div class=\"top_row\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/author-nina-nguyen\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en.gravatar.com\/userimage\/202630276\/db9fed5a69fa64e4715aa71982486940.jpg\" alt=\"Nina Nguyen\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Follow<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Nina Nguyen is a reporter based in Sydney.
