He told the outlet, \u201cNo, not interested.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Hill then elaborated as to why, \u201cIt\u2019s a money-making venture and I\u2019m not interested in watching that or being in it. He responded, \u201cCompletely, yes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on, \u201cI think they were pushing it when they made <em>The Hobbit<\/em>. <em>The Hobbit\u2019s<\/em> a tiny book.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hill did go on to praise Jackson\u2019s adaptation of <em>The Hobbit<\/em> into a film trilogy, \u201cThey did it well \u2013 they did it really, really well. They expanded it [but] I think you can only stretch a piece of elastic so far. Viggo Mortensen, who played Aragorn in Jackson\u2019s <em>The Lord of the Rings<\/em> trilogy was asked about The Rings of Power back in May before the series premiered on Prime Video.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if he planned on watching it, Mortensen stated, \u201cWhat is that? The TV thing? It is with Apple, or something?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After being made aware it was being made by Amazon and was \u201cthought to be the most expensive TV series ever made,\u201d Mortensen responded, \u201cOh, right. What were they allowed to use?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After being informed that the show would feature Isildur and would be taking place thousands of years prior to the War of the Ring, Mortensen did indicate he would watch, \u201cOh, that\u2019s cool! The show is anything but an adaptation of Tolkien\u2019s writings about the Second Age.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the showrunners have admitted as much. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/rings-of-power-sauron-season-2-lotr-1235240809\/#!\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Patrick McKay told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> in October, \u201cSeason two has a canonical story.
