It always felt as though they were saying their children\u2019s lives were more valuable than mine or that serving their nation was beneath them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Alas, here I am, hoping my kids opt for a different path than the one I took.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Not because I think they are any more special than the next child or think our country isn\u2019t worth serving. In 2018, 70% of Americans trusted and had high confidence in the military. For the first time, the survey asked respondents to explain the reason for their lack of confidence, and the breakdown is as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">62% \u2013 military leadership becoming overly politicized<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">59% \u2013 performance and competence of Presidents as Commander-in-Chief<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">55% \u2013 performance and competence of military-civilian leadership<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">52% \u2013 performance and competence of uniformed military leadership<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">52% \u2013 ability to win a future war<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">50% \u2013 woke practices<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">47% \u2013 performance in Iraq\/Afghanistan<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">46% \u2013 far-right extremists<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The summary of the report explains the overall symptom of this decrease:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThere was also a decrease in those confident in the military\u2019s ability to act in a professional and nonpolitical manner, from 40% in 2021 to 35%.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So why should we care about reports like these? Our military is an all-volunteer force, and fewer are willing to raise their right hands.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Right. Digging deeper, the poll says 50% believe &#8216;woke&#8217; policies are eroding trust and confidence in the military and most of those are Republicans. On the other hand, 45% say right wing extremism is to blame and most of those are Dems.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kelley B. As a result, the Reagan National Defense Survey asked 18 to 29-year-old respondents about their willingness to join the military.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Only 13% showed a willingness to join, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/news\/your-military\/2022\/12\/01\/politicization-contributing-to-americans-low-trust-in-the-military\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">breakdown<\/a> below:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">7% \u2013 Don\u2019t know<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">8% \u2013 Depends<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">26% \u2013 Not willing at all<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">20% \u2013 Not very willing<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">25% \u2013 Somewhat willing<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">7% \u2013 Very willing<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">6% \u2013 Extremely willing<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Hard to argue those numbers when overall trust in the military has dipped 22 points in the last five years. If you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/tv\/john-kirby-rejects-bogus-claim-of-woke-policies-dragging-down-army-recruitment-theres-no-wokeness-in-the-military\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">believe<\/a> former Pentagon spokesman John Kirby, there is \u201cno wokeness\u201d in the military.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">But you know better if you are a living, breathing, thinking American. Allow me to list out just a few from memory:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">I was still serving during the anti-extremism down day, and I can tell you it was a massive waste of time and resources. Don\u2019t believe me?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/retired-military-brass-make-bank-working-for-foreign-regimes-like-saudi-arabia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Retired Military Brass Make Bank Working for Foreign Regimes Like Saudi Arabia<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The \u201cCountering Extremist Activity Working Group\u201d found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/americans-view-military-overly-politicized-half-country-concerned-pentagon-woke\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">less than<\/a> 100 individuals across 2.1 million service members engaged in \u201cextremist activity.\u201d That\u2019s roughly .005% of the force, or what I call a witchhunt.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u26a0\ufe0f &#8220;If you&#8217;re concerned about the perils of a woke military, Biden DoD instructing men\/women no longer use pronouns, this is intricately interwoven with the policy of trying to throw out the military \u2013 anyone who dares disagree.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenTedCruz?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SenTedCruz<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ampFW?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ampFW<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PHQGpsUxt5\">https:\/\/t.co\/PHQGpsUxt5<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 FreedomWorks (@FreedomWorks) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FreedomWorks\/status\/1598368189523582976?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 1, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Why Do We Join<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Every service member has reasons for joining the military and staying in, as I did. I joined because, like many others, my family couldn\u2019t afford to send me to college, and I wanted to see the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Some join out of a sense of service, others because of family legacy, some because they want specific training like pilots and doctors, and others join to escape their current situation in hopes of something better. It used to be that our different reasons and backgrounds were what made us diverse and strong.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">When I graduated from Basic Military Training 20+ years ago, the feeling I had was the same as my fellow Airmen; I felt like a badass. I made it through basic training and was wearing the uniform of the best damn military in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">We all felt that way even though we all looked different. But today, that feeling is not what the military machine wants you to feel. As Senator Rubio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/pentagon-critical-race-theory-gender-identity-insanity-gop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explains<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cRather than making the case for American greatness and protecting our nation, the military is parroting woke nonsense.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Who wants to represent a country they are told is inherently racist and fundamentally evil? I imagine swearing your oath of service to the military is in the same general arena as those who serve the cloth or practice medicine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">You give all of yourself to that service, which requires you to make it part of your soul. To sacrifice your life for your country, you must believe there is more to it than just the surface details. You must trust that your fellow soldier loves you as unconditionally as you love them, regardless of race, gender, or sexuality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Big Military has lost its way and probably lost it long before I enlisted as a young punk 18-year-old many, many years ago. We cannot win wars if we teach our warfighters that they are not cut from the same cloth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">I won\u2019t ever tell my kids not to join the military because I believe that if you are called to serve, you must answer that call.
