Though the disgraced entrepreneur may have lost untold billions in clients\u2019 money, Waters <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepMaxineWaters\/status\/1598693811252875264\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> Bankman-Fried on social media that \u201cwe appreciate that you\u2019ve been candid in your discussions about what happened\u201d at FTX.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour willingness to talk to the public will help the company\u2019s customers, investors, and others,\u201d she added, noting that the House Financial Services Committee would \u201cwelcome your participation\u201d in the hearing, which is currently scheduled for December 13.<\/p>\n<p>Bankman-Fried, the son of two Stanford Law professors with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/mother-of-disgraced-crypto-billionaire-sam-bankman-fried-is-a-democratic-fundraiser-who-once-wrote-essay-blasting-personal-responsibility\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deep-seated connections<\/a> to the Democratic Party, emerged as an overnight success three years ago. He contributed $39 million during the recent midterm elections, with the vast majority of funds benefiting Democratic candidates, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/outside-spending\/top_donors\/2022?disp=D&#038;type=V&#038;superonly=N\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">data<\/a> from Open Secrets. During the most recent presidential election cycle, he was the second-largest donor to the Biden campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) cited the would-be wunderkind\u2019s campaign contributions in a response to Waters. \u201cSo polite and accommodating,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepAndyBiggsAZ\/status\/1598736803233599488\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted<\/a> along with a photo of Bankman-Fried and the lawmaker posing for cameras. \u201cSee how differently Democrats treat their donors?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Newsmax anchor and podcast host Benny Johnson posted <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bennyjohnson\/status\/1593723486765289472\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">footage<\/a> of Waters appearing to blow Bankman-Fried a kiss during a previous hearing. \u201cShe\u2019s the one who\u2019s supposed to grill SBF next month?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Concha, a columnist for The Hill, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoeConchaTV\/status\/1598723290725552130\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noted<\/a> that the \u201cpolite\u201d nature of the message was absurd and akin to saying, \u201cWe appreciate that you\u2019ve been candid in your discussions around destroying the lives of thousands of your investors while hiding out in your $40 million penthouse in the Bahamas that said investors paid for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite his considerable donations to left-wing candidates, Bankman-Fried also gave \u201cabout the same amount\u201d in dark money to Republicans, he said during an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/i-dont-even-know-how-to-code-mit-grad-and-now-broke-crypto-ceo-sam-bankman-fried-tells-niche-vlogger\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> with cryptocurrency vlogger Tiffany Fong. \u201cThe reason was not for regulatory reasons. It was because reporters freak the f*** out if you donate to Republicans,\u201d he contended.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the media have extended a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/left-of-center-media-accepted-millions-from-democrat-donor-and-disgraced-crypto-wunderkind-sam-bankman-fried\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">considerable<\/a> amount of grace to Bankman-Fried, who is presently still located in the Bahamas, where FTX is headquartered. New York Times financial columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/sam-bankman-fried-denies-wrongdoing-in-ftx-implosion-during-live-streamed-new-york-times-interview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interviewed<\/a> the 30-year-old at the outlet\u2019s recent DealBook Summit despite widespread criticism for neglecting to cancel the conversation.<\/p>\n<p>After Sorkin pressed him on the alleged intertwining of funds between his companies, Bankman-Fried claimed that a \u201cfailure of oversight\u201d on his part resulted in confusion rather than any desire to defraud investors for his own profit. \u201cI wasn\u2019t running Alameda.
