All Rights Reserved.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-features\/james-cameron-interview-avatar-the-way-of-water-franchise-future-1235271483\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a wide-ranging article from The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> spotlighting Cameron and the film, which ironically doesn\u2019t get into many of the details of the film, Cameron discussed his working relationship with The Walt Disney Company, who is producing and distributing the film after they purchased 20th Century Fox.<\/p>\n<p>Cameron noted he hasn\u2019t had any big clashes with any of the Disney executives, \u201cMaybe it\u2019s still a honeymoon phase. I don\u2019t know. We\u2019ll see. What little Cameron did talk about the film with The Hollywood Reporter he revealed it will seemingly feature an \u201casshole dad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He told the outlet, \u201cI thought, \u2018I\u2019m going to work out a lot of my stuff, artistically, that I\u2019ve gone through as a parent of five kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe overarching idea is, the family is the fortress. It\u2019s our greatest weakness and our greatest strength. I thought, \u2018I can write the hell out of this. We now have a family and to be honest, to me, the movie is about protecting your family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether that\u2019s an immediate family, it works on many levels. All Rights Reserved.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Cameron previously told <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7chicago.com\/james-cameron-avatar-returns-to-movie-theaters-the-way-of-water-4k\/12254268\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Associated Press<\/a> that the climate and the health of the planet was on his mind while making the film and its sequels.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cVery much so, even to the extent that I very strongly debated with myself and discussed with my wife whether I should stop filmmaking and work on the sustainability issues. But we managed to be able to do that in parallel with the filmmaking process. We\u2019re doing all of our sustainability efforts \u2013 I don\u2019t want to say as a side hustle, but in parallel. It captured you at the level of character, at a level of storytelling. I think subtext is a useful way of looking at it. It\u2019s there but it\u2019s not what\u2019s driving the story. And we kept that in mind with the new films,\u201d he elaborated.<\/p>\n<p>He then revealed, \u201cYes,\u00a0<em>Avatar: The Way of Water<\/em>\u00a0is about the oceans and our relationship with the oceans and the animals that live in it.
