McCraw\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/breaking-uvalde-shooting-could-have-been-stopped-in-three-minutes-texas-police\">said<\/a>\u00a0that officers on-scene could have stopped gunman Salvador Ramos&#8217;s rampage within &#8220;three minutes&#8221; in June.<\/p>\n<p>Pete Arredondo, the school district&#8217;s former police chief, was <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/uvalde-to-hold-vote-on-firing-school-district-police-chief-following-botched-school-shooting-response\">fired in August<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On May 24, gunman <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/texas-school-shooter-was-known-to-police-bullied-by-classmates\">Salvador Ramos<\/a> entered <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/breaking-mass-shooting-at-texas-elementary-school-two-children-dead-multiple-injuries\">Robb Elementary School<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/breaking-texas-dps-releases-new-information-on-uvalde-police-school-shooting-response-failure-to-act\">at 11:33 am<\/a> and police were on the scene in minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As Ramos went to rooms 111 and 112, police did not make an attempt to enter or breach the doors, <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/uvalde-police-never-tried-to-open-door-to-classroom-where-children-were-being-massacred-source\">which were unlocked<\/a>. Ramos hid in the classrooms and the massacre continued while surveillance video shows <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/leaked-uvalde-surveillance-video-shows-gunman-enter-school-and-open-fire-police-response\">officers standing idly by<\/a> as children screamed only feet away.<\/p>\n<p>According to the lawsuit, law enforcement officials &#8220;fundamentally strayed from conducting themselves in conformity with what they knew to be the well-established protocols and standards for responding to an active shooter.<\/p>\n<p>Arredondo arrived on scene without a radio but made a call to dispatch at 11:40 am saying &#8220;We&#8217;re inside the building, he&#8217;s in one room,&#8221; and &#8220;I need a lot of firepower, so I need this building surrounded. Surrounded with as many AR-15s as possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Arredondo proceeded to check for keys that would access the unlocked room and tried a set on an entirely different classroom door safely away from the shooter.<\/p>\n<p>At 12:16 pm, a child was on an emergency line reporting that several kids were still alive and begged for police to enter. In response, Chief Arredondo reportedly said,\u00a0 &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/uvalde-school-police-chief-arredondo-said-tell-them-to-f-cking-wait-as-kids-died\">Tell them to f*cking wait<\/a>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Outside <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/breaking-mother-trying-to-save-children-at-uvalde-was-handcuffed-by-federal-marshals\">parents were detained and handcuffed<\/a> as they wanted to rush in and save their dying children.\u00a0 The lawsuit claims those parents as well as other victims and survivors &#8220;sustained emotional and psychological damages as a result of Defendants\u2019 conduct and omissions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At 12:23 pm Arredondo was told that they&#8217;d already lost two kids, but responded &#8220;we have to put those aside right now&#8221; because he was afraid that bullets could break through the thin walls. He continued to wait for more gear and men.<\/p>\n<p>The report by the Texas House found that nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/breaking-nearly-400-local-state-and-federal-officers-waited-outside-uvalde-school-as-gunman-targeted-children-tx-house-report\">376 local, state, and federal officers<\/a> waited outside the Uvalde school as Ramos targeted the children. <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/uvalde-commissioners-launch-review-of-police-procedure-that-had-no-active-shooter-policy\">County Commissioner John Yeackle said<\/a> that, despite the massive law enforcement presence, &#8220;no one seemed to know who was in charge.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ramos was eventually shot and killed at 12:50, 77 minutes after he entered, at the hands of a Border Patrol tactical team.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the school district, Anne Marie Espinoza, told CNN, &#8220;There are no words to adequately express our deepest condolences to all the families who lost a loved one on May 24.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Uvalde CISD cannot comment on or provide information about pending litigation.
