See for yourself.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>The trailer opens with two medics walking into a cabin before one hears growling coming from the other side of a door. \u201cWe should go,\u201d he says before the bear breaks down the door and mauls him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMillions of dollars worth of cocaine fell from the sky this morning in Knoxville, Tennessee,\u201d a narrator then says in the trailer to set up the premise.<\/p>\n<p>Then we see a big cuddly bear lying on its back and playing with a taped-up brick of cocaine before eating it. \u201cLet\u2019s see what kind of effect that has on him,\u201d says one guy, apparently unaware of the effect cocaine has.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Cocaine Bear kills a <em>LOT<\/em> of people, judging from all the bloody body limbs strewn throughout the trailer. He climbs trees to kill hikers, tearing them apart. He appears to smother another to death. But it\u2019s hilarious \u2018cuz it\u2019s a bear high on cocaine, right?<\/p>\n<p>The movie, set for release on February 24, features a delightful scene where a little kid, maybe 10 or 12, tells authorities that a bear ate the cocaine: \u201cIt was f***ed!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHey, that\u2019s inappropriate,\u201d a female forest ranger tells the boy just before being ripped limb from limb.<\/p>\n<p>Now, that\u2019s Oscars stuff!<\/p>\n<p>At another part in the trailer, the bear sings a song to the tune of Eric Clapton\u2019s \u201cCocaine\u201d: \u201cApex predator\/high on cocaine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The film, directed by Elizabeth Banks, who played Avery Jessup in \u201c30 Rock\u201d and starred in the \u201cPitch Perfect\u201d movies, is reportedly based on a true story. \u201cBased\u201d is an iffy word because nothing like that happened.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1985\/12\/23\/us\/cocaine-and-a-dead-bear.html\">reported<\/a> on December 23, 1985, that a 175-pound black bear \u201capparently\u201d died of an overdose of cocaine after discovering the drug, citing the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The cocaine was reportedly pitched out of a plane piloted by Andrew Thornton, a convicted drug smuggler who died on September 11 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The bureau said the bear was found in northern Georgia surrounded by 40 open plastic containers that contained traces of cocaine.<\/p>\n<p>A medical examiner later found the bear died from cerebral hemorrhaging, respiratory failure, hyperthermia, renal failure, heart failure, and a stroke, the Daily Mail <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11487553\/Cocaine-Bear-trailer-tells-true-story-predator-ate-70-POUNDS-drug-dropped-smugglers.html\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ah, but forget all that inconvenient stuff \u2014 this is art. The film is also one of the last actor Ray Liotta made before he died in May at age 67.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DuWEEKeJLMI&#038;t=1s\">YouTubers<\/a> love it already. \u201cA movie about a bear high off cocaine that\u2019s also Ray Liotta\u2019s last ever film appearance. This is cinema,\u201d one wrote in the comments under the trailer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is going to be a cinematic masterpiece the likes of which have never been seen before,\u201d wrote another. \u201cI haven\u2019t been inspired to see a movie in a theatre in like 5 years. I am now,\u201d wrote another.<\/p>\n<p>And finally, one wrote, \u201cThe bear deserves an Oscar!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maybe they\u2019re right. Just try to name a \u201cBest Picture\u201d from the last few years.
