The comedienne and podcaster expanded on the conflict via social media, a rare case of transparency at a time when secrecy is often the order of the day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">As some of you may know <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/YouTube?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@YouTube<\/a> wrongfully censored one of my videos because I read and discussed a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nypost?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@nypost<\/a> article on an incident in a NYC specialty fry shop on-air. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TeamYouTube?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@TeamYouTube<\/a> said it \u201cincites others to commit violent acts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>1\/4<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Chrissie Mayr\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@ChrissieMayr) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChrissieMayr\/status\/1597331335521370113?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 28, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The conflict stems from a July YouTube broadcast in which Mayr read from a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/07\/07\/angry-customers-caught-trashing-nyc-eatery-hurling-items-at-workers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post piece on diners attacking a restaurant<\/a>. The melee began after a diner \u201craged\u201d against what she considered an exorbitant price for extra sauce \u2013 $1.75.<\/p>\n<p>Three female diners trashed the place, and Mayr read excerpts from the article during the livestream.<\/p>\n<p>YouTube said the broadcast ran afoul of its policy against inciting violence and took the video down. Such strikes weigh heavily against YouTube content creators. Three strikes and you\u2019re bounced from the platform.<\/p>\n<p>That can impact an artist\u2019s career, from reduced income to the inability to share videos on the biggest platform of its kind.<\/p>\n<p>YouTube often punishes creators by demonetizing their channels. PragerU\u2019s YouTube channel no longer features commercials due to that practice, even though its content is consistently G-rated.<\/p>\n<p>The comic shared her legal team\u2019s demands on Twitter. Repeal the decision or face a lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the approximately nine-minute segment Ms. Mayr did not say anything violent or controversial,\u201d the legal letter reads.<\/p>\n<p>YouTube, the letter continues, filed a strike against Mayr\u2019s account for including \u201cgraphic violence.\u201d Mayr\u2019s team noted that other news outlets featured the same footage but were not punished.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/comedy-rebels-rogan-carolla-dillon\/\"><strong>RELATED: MEET TODAY\u2019S COMEDY REBELS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Upon further review, YouTube stuck to its initial ruling despite not punishing mainstream news outlets which shared similar footage.<\/p>\n<p>Content creators are routinely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/big-tech-censorship-conservative-comedy\/\">fighting Big Tech platforms<\/a> in the modern era. Comedian Nick DiPaolo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/youtube-censors-nick-di-paolo\/\">had his own issues with YouTube<\/a> stemming from pandemic commentary.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, conservative comic and podcaster Steven Crowder sued YouTube, citing the platform erroneously punished him for<a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/technology\/commentary\/steven-crowder-suing-youtube-over-vague-rules-its-not-just-about-him\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \u201cmisinformation\u201d and \u201cbullying.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0The Heritage Foundation\u2019s report on Crowder\u2019s suit pointed to the hypocrisy in full display.<\/p>\n<p>If the coronavirus misinformation standard were applied consistently, Dr. Anthony Fauci\u2019s announcement in March 2020 that \u201cthere is no reason to [walk] around with a mask\u201d would have been struck from the platform during the height of the pandemic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chrissie Mayr has had enough.
