The almost 21-year-old has been busy this year weeding through our culture\u2019s endless expectations for the fairer sex \u2014 with the pressure of 100 million people\u2019s eyes on her, no less \u2014 and embracing the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/01\/28\/girls-its-ok-to-be-beautiful\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">beauties of womanhood<\/a>. It looks lovely on her.<\/p>\n<p>Each year since 2017, Vanity Fair has sat down with Eilish on the same day for a repeat interview, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=55XJ1ObZKaM&#038;ab_channel=VanityFair\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2022 iteration<\/a> just came out this week, skyrocketing to the No. 1 trending video on YouTube. Released just two months after Eilish wrapped up her \u201cHappier Than Ever\u201d world tour, that\u2019s exactly how she appears.<\/p>\n<p>She rolls her eyes at the antics of her grungy younger self and exposes baby Billie as a people-pleasing fraud who was not much more than a parody of who she wanted people to think she was. \u201cJust more footage of me being a little idiot at 16,\u201d she says. <\/p>\n<p>But with a breezy laugh and all the magnetism of a woman who knows not to be too hard on herself, Eilish gives herself grace. After all, there\u2019s no shame in being better than you used to be. This time around, comfortable in her own skin with an understated haircut and color, Eilish thoughtfully considers the questions she\u2019s heard year after year, seeming for the first time to give the correct answer, not the cool one. <\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>But it\u2019s not just her cheerful demeanor, authenticity, and \u201cback to basics\u201d style, as she describes it, that show Eilish has outgrown her child star persona. It\u2019s her priorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe most important thing to me now is being in touch with myself and how I am actually really feeling and listening to my gut, trusting my gut,\u201d she says in a message that\u2019s less about promoting self-love and more about demonstrating victory over depression and self-doubt. \u201cMy family being good and happy and healthy and my relationship being really solid with them \u2014 that\u2019s what\u2019s important to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That familial instinct is a theme for Eilish, who closes out each year\u2019s interview with a heartfelt moment with her mom. In fact, she says her \u201centourage\u201d is usually just \u201cmy family, I mean truly that\u2019s never really going to change. My family is like the most important thing in my life, so I\u2019m with them a lot \u2014 or I\u2019m just alone in my car. I love being alone in my car,\u201d she admits with a smile. (And what woman can\u2019t relate?)<\/p>\n<p>Alone time is important for anybody, but especially as a break from the balancing act that is being a female. For Eilish, that balancing act isn\u2019t only a demanding musical career, family, and hormones.
