Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Rick Scott and Marco Rubio of Florida, Mike Lee of Utah, Ted Cruz of Texas, Mike Braun of Indiana, Roger Marshall of Kansas, Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, Steve Daines of Montana, Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi, and Josh Hawley of Missouri.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the CDC\u2019s acknowledgment in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/70\/wr\/mm7021e3.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">May 2021<\/a> that the Covid jabs don\u2019t prevent individuals from getting or spreading the respiratory virus, the Biden administration proceeded to <a href=\"https:\/\/media.defense.gov\/2021\/Aug\/25\/2002838826\/-1\/-1\/0\/MEMORANDUM-FOR-MANDATORY-CORONAVIRUS-DISEASE-2019-VACCINATION-OF-DEPARTMENT-OF-DEFENSE-SERVICE-MEMBERS.PDF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mandate<\/a> the shots for all U.S. service members in August of that same year. According to the Republican senators\u2019 Wednesday letter, as of April 2022, approximately 3,400 troops have been involuntarily separated from service for refusing the jab.<\/p>\n<p>Some service members, however, have since filed lawsuits against the Defense Department over the agency\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/31\/22-states-file-legal-brief-in-support-of-navy-seals-still-battling-bidens-covid-jab-mandate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">overwhelming<\/a> denial of troops\u2019 religious exemptions from the shot mandate. Earlier this year, several members of the U.S. Coast Guard filed <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/09\/22\/even-though-the-pandemic-is-over-the-coast-guard-still-denies-religious-exemptions-to-covid-jab-mandate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">suit<\/a> against high-ranking military officials such as Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, claiming that the department\u2019s denial of their religious exemptions is an infringement of their First Amendment rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChaplains attested to the sincerity of Plaintiffs\u2019 religious objections to being vaccinated, and Defendants did not contest the sincerity of Plaintiffs\u2019 religious objections to being vaccinated,\u201d the suit reads.<\/p>\n<p> Shawn Fleetwood is a Staff Writer for The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
