These techniques are often used together to first put on muscle, then drop any excess\u00a0mass.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container ad-container--mobile\">\n<hr class=\"ad-separation-line\" \/>\n<div data-freestar-ad=\"__300x250\" id=\"bodybuilding_content_incontent_1\" style=\"margin: auto;\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"ad-separation-line\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>There\u2019s a\u00a0lot of science and calculation that goes into pulling off a\u00a0proper bulking and\/or cutting regimen with a\u00a0careful balance of specialized exercise and diet regulation. For a\u00a0deeper dive, we\u2019ve consulted with Certified Nutrition Coach and Personal Trainer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/kayd.fit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Kayla DeMarco<\/strong><\/a>, who says what you need is some thought, planning, and dedication\u2013 and your body will start working for\u00a0you.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStart by asking yourself,\u00a0\u200b\u2018what are my goals?\u2019\u201d advises DeMarco.\u00a0\u200b\u201cHave a\u00a0clear plan before taking action.\u201d That plan needs to involve how you approach your workout time, and what you put into your\u00a0body.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Build your gym routine for the big results you\u00a0want.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People who decide to bulk are looking to put on some serious mass\u2009\u2014\u2009and by extension\u2009\u2014\u2009strength.\u00a0\u200b\u201cA\u00a0\u200b\u2018bulking\u2019 workout focuses more on heavy weight training with less cardio, whereas a\u00a0\u200b\u2018cutting\u2019 workout focuses more on lower weight and higher reps with a\u00a0bigger emphasis on cardio,\u201d explains DeMarco.\u00a0\u200b\u201cTo keep it simple: bulking = heavier weight + less reps. Cutting = lighter weight + more reps.\u201d When it comes to cardio, Demarco recommends clients who are cutting focus on\u00a0HIIT\u00a0(high intensity interval training) and\u00a0EMOM\u00a0(Every Minute on the Minute)\u00a0workouts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feed your body precisely what it needs to let your hard work\u00a0show.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What happens in the gym is important, but crushing your goals can only happen when you\u2019re consuming what your body needs\u2009\u2014\u2009and in the way your body needs\u00a0it.<\/p>\n<h3>The\u00a0Bulk<\/h3>\n<p>A\u00a0bulking diet requires consuming way more calories than your body typically needs\u2009\u2014\u2009by way of all three macros: fat, carbs and protein.
