Ford sailed 9,275 nautical miles, launched 1,250 sorties, blew out more than 78 tons of ordnance, and completed 13 underway replenishments. To US Navy leaders, that all added up to one outstanding voyage.<\/p>\n<p>In a prepared statement released as the flagship flattop returned to its homeport of Norfolk, Virginia, on Saturday, Nov. 26, the carrier strike group commander, Rear Adm. Greg Huffman, called his air and warship crews \u201cawe-inspiring\u201d during a tour that began Oct. 4 and took them to the North Atlantic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis deployment laid a strong foundation for the strike group, created momentum to carry us forward for future operations, and has prepared us to answer our nation\u2019s call when needed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>While Ford was still underway, its air crews flew home to their bases in Virginia on Friday, but one squadron had to keep jetting more than 2,100 nautical miles west.<\/p>\n<p>According to California-based Naval Air Forces, the \u201cGray Wolves\u201d of <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.airpac.navy.mil\/Organization\/Electronic-Attack-Squadron-VAQ-142\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Electronic Attack Squadron 142<\/a><\/span> landed their EA-18G Growlers Friday on <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coffeeordie.com\/uso-tour-whidbey-island\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">Whidbey Island<\/a><\/span>, Washington. <\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\" data-align-center=\"\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\">\n<figure class=\"Figure\"><source type=\"image\/webp\" \/><source \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"image\" alt=\"maiden cruise\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/90-137 1x, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/90-138-scaled.jpg 2x\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/90-137\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"Figure-content\"><figcaption class=\"Figure-caption\">\n<p>The aircraft carrier Gerald R.
