He has been housed at the St. Louis County Justice Center since \u2014 but a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kmov.com\/2022\/11\/29\/convicted-rapist-suspected-using-dating-app-jail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> from local CBS affiliate KMOV stated that someone who knew him found him on the dating app Bumble since he was incarcerated.<\/p>\n<p>Amber Williams told the outlet that she matched with someone named \u201cGiovanni\u201d on the app, but when she looked at the photos, she recognized his face immediately. \u201cI was like, \u2018oh my God Yocco just matched with me.\u2019 Like, \u2018what\u2019s going on,&#8217;\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Williams said that she had \u201chung out\u201d with Yocco and some other friends when she was younger and that one of her friends had later said he had <a href=\"https:\/\/fox2now.com\/news\/witness-recounts-frightening-encounter-in-accused-serial-rapists-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">assaulted her<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s insane, and it\u2019s just crazy to me, to think how you\u2019re convicted of all these rapes, and you\u2019re still getting on these dating apps,\u201d Williams added.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities are unsure whether Yocco was behind the account Williams found, and an investigation into whether or not it was him \u2014 and if so, how he managed to obtain access to the internet \u2014 is currently underway.<\/p>\n<p>If it was Yocco, however, it may not be the first time he has tried something similar. Lyssa Laurent, whose late daughter Maya Jami was one of Yocco\u2019s accusers, told The Daily Wire that he had joined Bumble under a fake name at least once before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI emailed the prosecutor\u2019s office 9\/13\/2021 \u2026 over a year ago, that he was on Bumble. Same time that I found him on TikTok. He had fake names,\u201d Laurent said, adding that the prosecutor\u2019s office had informed her that if Yocco had gained access to the internet while in jail, it could have been through a tablet he was given \u201cfor movies and email.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProsecutors office just texted me,\u201d she said. \u201cIt hasn\u2019t been verified but his tablet is being checked. Apparently prisoners get tablets \u2018for movies and email.\u2019 ?!?!?!!!!!!!!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Laurent\u2019s daughter Maya ended her own life in October 2020 \u2014 when she was just 15 \u2014 but Laurent has continued down the path they began together: giving victim impact statements at every opportunity in an effort to make sure that what happened to her daughter doesn\u2019t happen to anyone else.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in shock when I saw it on the news last night,\u201d Laurent said of the news that Yocco may have gotten access to a dating app from jail. \u201cThe reason why I have fought this whole time, and why Maya was willing to testify, was so that he wouldn\u2019t be able to harm anyone else. But he is potentially still trying to contact women. The trial brought some feelings of closure for me, but seeing it on the news again, last night made me realize that it\u2019s never really going to be over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis sentencing was originally set for this Thursday but was recently changed to December 22. I am planning to make a victim impact statement as I have made statements at every single hearing since 2018,\u201d Laurent continued. \u201cThis has been looming over us since the rape first occurred. It obviously had a devastating effect on Maya but it also did impact all of us and changed our lives forever.
