It\u2019s not just at the pump where Americans feel the pain because the Biden administration refuses to drill for domestic oil; those policies also play out on store shelves.<\/p>\n<p>High diesel prices and looming shortages exacerbate supply chain issues at every level from transportation to farming, and the higher prices we\u2019re paying for food and other items reflect these issues.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/tippinsights.com\/voters-favor-more-drilling-fewer-rules-to-end-diesel-fuel-shortage-i-i-tipp-poll\/?ref=tippinsights-newsletter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new poll from Tippinsights<\/a> in association with Issues &#038; Insights shows that voters have something to say about it:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In the poll, we asked 1,359 adults the following question: \u201cWhat should government do to alleviate the diesel shortage?\u201d The online I&#038;I\/TIPP Poll, taken from Nov. 2-4, has a margin of error of +\/-2.8 percentage points.<\/p>\n<p>Respondents were given, in order, the following possible responses. Responses 1 to 4 were randomized to avoid any order bias:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u201cEncourage more drilling and refining of oil.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cKeep imposing strict limits on carbon-based fuels to reduce climate change.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cReturn to the rules and standards for energy production that prevailed in 2020.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cTax oil companies if they don\u2019t produce more oil.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cDo nothing.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cNot sure.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The top two responses are revealing. Thirty-nine percent of voters surveyed preferred encouraging more drilling, while another 36% want to see a return to the energy-production standards that predate the Biden administration.<\/p>\n<p>A quarter of those surveyed want to tax oil companies that don\u2019t produce more oil \u2014 a response that reveals either ignorance or wishful thinking \u2014 and 22% want to continue a green agenda. It\u2019s telling that an equal percentage of people say they\u2019re not sure. A majority of Republicans surveyed prefer drilling and refining (55%) and returning to fewer regulations and restrictions on energy production (51%). Independents give these options an edge as well, at 35% and 33%, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, Democrats responded fairly evenly to all the options, but a plurality of them favored the policies that Tippinsights refers to as \u201cmore restrictive and punitive in nature,\u201d with 36% preferring taxing oil companies as their favorite option and 32% opting for the climate change agenda.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1648967\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1648967\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1648967\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/How-can-government-reduce-diesel-shortage-by-party-730x548-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"730\" height=\"548\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/How-can-government-reduce-diesel-shortage-by-party-730x548-1.jpg 730w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/How-can-government-reduce-diesel-shortage-by-party-1110x833-1.jpg 1110w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/How-can-government-reduce-diesel-shortage-by-party.jpg 1440w\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1648967\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tippinsights<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Tippinsights argues that the strong response in favor of increasing American energy production, whether through more drilling or lowering restrictions, proves that the issue isn\u2019t a political one but an economic one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe answer transcends both politics and the short-term horizon of the holiday season,\u201d writes Tippinsights\u2019 Terry Jones. \u201cIndeed, the U.S. is already suffering slowing demand due to surging inflation for food, manufactured goods and, especially, energy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The strain of inflation is powerful, as another survey showing that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/washington-secrets\/sorry-kids-81-parents-cutting-christmas-spending\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">81% of parents<\/a> said they planned on spending less for Christmas this year proves. The fuel crisis could rear its ugly head even higher going into the winter. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.severe-weather.eu\/global-weather\/snow-extent-northern-hemisphere-highest-56-years-winter-cold-rrc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere is already at a 56-year high<\/a> this year \u2014 which isn\u2019t hard to see as somewhat ironic since the \u201cclimate change\u201d narrative seeks to fight rising temperatures \u2014 meaning that more people are likely to feel the crunch of rising energy prices.<\/p>\n<p>The bottom line is that voters want their leaders to do something about rising fuel prices and their ripple effects, and if this poll is any indication, more voters want to go back to the way things were before the Biden administration made energy less plentiful and more expensive.
