The teams were walking back to their locker rooms after Michigan\u2019s 29-7 win when several Michigan State players attacked two Michigan players.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe conference determined that during the postgame, seven Michigan State University football student-athletes participated in the hitting, kicking or using of their helmet to strike University of Michigan student-athletes,\u201d the conference said in a statement. \u201cA Michigan State University football staff member was involved in a separate sportsmanship matter, which was in violation of the\u00a0Big Ten Conference Sportsmanship Policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Washtenaw County Prosecutor\u2019s Office has since filed criminal charges against the seven Michigan State University players.<\/p>\n<p>Defensive back Khary Crump was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/7-michigan-state-football-players-criminally-charged-for-violent-attack-at-football-game\">charged<\/a> with one count of felonious assault for allegedly hitting Michigan defensive back Gemon Green in the head with his helmet.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/story\/_\/id\/35093005\/seven-michigan-st-football-players-charged-tunnel-melee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noted<\/a>\u00a0that defensive lineman Jacoby Windmon, who was charged with one misdemeanor count of assault &#038; battery, was seen in the same video \u201chitting and kicking\u201d the player.<\/p>\n<p>Itayvion Brown, Angelo Grose, Justin White, Brandon Wright, and Zion Young were all charged with one misdemeanor count of aggravated assault in connection with an attack on Michigan defensive back Ja\u2019Den McBurrows.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Ten Conference announced several disciplinary actions over the incident, including a public reprimand for the University of Michigan for not providing \u201cadequate protection for personnel of both home and visiting teams when entering and leaving playing arenas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The conference fined Michigan State University $100,000 and leveled suspensions against the players involved, including, Khary Crump,\u00a0four games from the incident date, plus the first eight games of the 2023 season; Itayvion Brown, four games from the incident date; Angelo Grose, four games from the incident date; Justin White, four games from the incident date; Jacoby Windmon, four games from the incident date; Brandon Wright, four games from the incident date; and\u00a0Zion Young, four games from the incident date.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Ten Conference said that the school\u2019s self-imposed suspension on Malcolm Jones was sufficient and had already been completed.
