In a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Eric_Schmitt\/status\/1595574863997042688?s=20&#038;t=9POFMm7CS19niNN4fcRFWw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tweet<\/a> posted on Wednesday evening after the deposition, Schmitt claimed that Fauci \u201cknew the [Covid] Lab Leak theory had merit but it\u2019d come back to him &#038; sought to immediately discredit it.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Fauci also \u201cdefended lockdowns\u201d and expressed sentiments that \u201c[t]he rest of us \u2018don\u2019t have the ability\u2019 to determine what\u2019s best for ourselves,\u201d Schmitt asserted.<\/p>\n<p>The Missouri AG would later go on to post another \u201ctidbit\u201d from Fauci\u2019s deposition a few days later, saying that the infectious disease doctor abruptly switched his position on the efficacy of facemasks in preventing viral transmission of Covid in the early months of the pandemic without giving any scientific justification. <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/06\/03\/fauci-emails-show-his-flip-flopping-on-wearing-masks-to-fight-covid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Emails<\/a> released last year between Fauci and a former federal official appear to confirm such an assertion.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Another tidbit from Fauci depo: In Feb \u201820 he emailed a friend advising her masks were ineffective. Confirmed again on Mar 31. On Apr 3 he\u2019s adamant masks should be worn even though he couldn\u2019t cite a single study to prove it. The man who single-handedly wrecked the U.S. economy based upon \u2018the science.\u2019 Only to discover that he can\u2019t recall practically anything dealing with his Covid response!\u201d Landry said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AGJeffLandry\/status\/1595538168853454848?s=20&#038;t=fg8Ieob42mb6ulJbEjF_YQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">separate post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Originally filed in May, the lawsuit brought by Schmitt and Landry seeks to undercover alleged <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/06\/02\/fauci-colluded-with-mark-zuckerberg-on-facebook-covid-19-information-hub-emails-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">collusion between the federal government and Big Tech<\/a> that resulted in the censorship of Covid-related information that did not comport with the views of the Biden administration. As part of their inquiry, the Missouri and Louisiana AGs asked a federal judge last month to grant them the power to depose Fauci, as well as other high-ranking administration officials, including former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, under oath.<\/p>\n<p>In their arguments, Schmitt and Landry <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/25\/court-fauci-biden-officials-must-testify-about-colluding-with-big-tech-to-throttle-covid-dissenters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a> that Fauci was \u201cdirectly involved with multiple social media censorship campaigns against COVID-19 misinformation,\u201d including Twitter\u2019s suspension of independent journalist Alex Berenson. The two AGs also asserted that Fauci\u2019s credibility as a public health official should be called into question, citing his numerous lies since the pandemic\u2019s outset as proof.
