Version: 4.0.47--><p>Arizona\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-maricopa-county\">Maricopa County<\/a> on Sunday responded to a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/azcapitoltimes.com\/news\/2022\/11\/21\/brnovich-demands-answers-from-maricopa-county-about-what-he-suspects-are-election-law-violations\/\">request<\/a> from the office of Arizona\u2019s Republican Attorney General\u00a0Mark Brnovich, which had asked for details from the county on how it had handled the election after a \u201cplethora of reports from election workers, poll watchers, and voters, including the county\u2019s admission of widespread printer problems,\u201d as well as that \u201cpoll workers appeared to be improperly trained on \u2018check-out\u2019 procedures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a lengthy report (<a href=\"https:\/\/docs-cdn-prod.news-engineering.aws.wapo.pub\/publish_document\/b201eba1-47ea-4e7f-8657-a6b33e224788\/published\/b201eba1-47ea-4e7f-8657-a6b33e224788.pdf\">pdf<\/a>), the Maricopa County Elections Department said that\u00a0the county had \u201cfollowed state and federal laws to ensure every voter was provided the opportunity to cast a ballot in the elections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Arizona gubernatorial candidate\u00a0Kari Lake and other Republicans have also claimed that voters have come forward to reveal multiple issues they faced when casting their ballots on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-election-day\">Election Day<\/a> and that those issues effectively\u00a0disenfranchised Arizonans.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, who was challenging Lake, declared\u00a0victory earlier this month.\u00a0Lake has not yet conceded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComing out of the Thanksgiving holiday, I\u2019m grateful for County staff who worked with great care and resolve to answer questions from the Arizona Attorney General\u2019s office about the November General Election,\u201d\u00a0Board of Supervisors Chair\u00a0Bill Gates, a Republican,\u00a0said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/maricopacounty\/status\/1596958686269698049\/photo\/1\">statement<\/a> on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the coming days, we will provide additional facts and transparency to the AG and other interested parties.\u00a0Most importantly, we will fulfill our statutory responsibility to canvass this election on Monday,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4852266\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/11\/09\/Kari-Lake-GettyImages-1440153753-1200x851.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy size-medium wp-image-4852266\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/themes\/eet\/images\/white.png\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Kari-Lake-GettyImages-1440153753-600x425-1.jpg\" alt=\"Kari Lake\" width=\"600\" height=\"425\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4852266\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Kari-Lake-GettyImages-1440153753-600x425-1.jpg\" alt=\"Kari Lake\" width=\"600\" height=\"425\" \/><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a> Arizona Republican gubernatorial nominee Kari Lake speaks to supporters during her election night event at The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Nov. 8, 2022. (Justin Sullivan\/Getty Images)<\/figure>\n<h2>\u2018Door 3 Procedures Are Legal\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>The report states that\u00a0Maricopa County\u2019s \u201cDoor 3 procedures\u201d are lawful and that \u201cevery single one of the 16,724 legal ballots deposited in secure Door 3 on Election Day was counted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Door 3 refers to a secure ballot box that officials said voters could place their ballots into on Election Day to be counted later.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, the report states that a total of\u00a0206 voters\u00a0checked in at one location and then voted at a second location on voting day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf these 206 voters, 84 successfully checked out of the first voting location and checked in at the second location. Since these 84 voters successfully checked out of their first location, they were issued a standard ballot at the second location,\u201d the report said. \u201cPoll workers were aware of this check-out procedure and were able to implement it early in the day on Election Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVoters commonly ask to spoil their ballots and poll workers are very familiar with the process of issuing them a new ballot,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining 122 voters that voted at two locations did not check out at their first location and were given a provisional ballot when they arrived at the second voting location, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor these 122 voters, the Elections Department performed a review to confirm if there was a printer issue at the first location and if there was a variance in the number of check-ins as compared to the number of ballots tabulated,\u201d the report states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter this review, the Elections Department determined that the provisional ballot should count for 109 of the 122 voters. (John Moore\/Getty Images)<\/figure>\n<h2>\u2018Voters Still Provided Reasonable, Lawful Options for Voting\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThe ballots for the remaining 11 voters were not counted because the Elections Department could not verify that a printing issue occurred at the voter\u2019s first location and\/or that there was a variance between the number of check-ins and the number of ballots counted at the first voting location.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, the report addressed issues with\u00a0printers that surfaced on Election Day and which\u00a0printed ballots that were too light for tabulators to read.<\/p>\n<p>Despite there being reports of printing issues at 71 vote centers across the county on Election Day, which\u00a0represents 31 percent of the 223 vote centers that were open on Election Day, the county on Sunday said that not all of these voter centers were actually experiencing\u00a0a printer issue.<\/p>\n<p>The report said that a review had found that 43 vote centers had been confirmed to have suffered from an\u00a0intermittent printer issue.<\/p>\n<p>Maricopa County includes Phoenix and about 60 percent of Arizona\u2019s population.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere on Sunday,\u00a0Tom Liddy, head of Maricopa County\u2019s civil division, in a letter (<a href=\"https:\/\/elections.maricopa.gov\/asset\/jcr:474f2301-1ff1-476d-a7fa-08945131f86c\/LTR-2022.11.27-Liddy-to-Wright-FINAL.pdf\">pdf<\/a>) to the Arizona Assistant Attorney General Jennifer Wright, who heads the Elections Integrity Unit,\u00a0alongside the report wrote that the failure of printers to print ballots capable of being read by precinct-based tabulators cannot violate elections laws because all voters were \u201cstill provided reasonable, lawful options for voting\u201d and the county\u2019s\u00a0contingency plan, of instructing voters to place their ballots into a ballot box to be tabulated later is \u201cused by eight counties in the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Liddy also claimed that \u201cno Arizona law requires ballots to be tabulated in polling locations using precinct-based tabulators.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Board of Supervisors said it will\u00a0hold a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/maricopacounty\/status\/1596958687637426176\">public meeting<\/a> to canvass the results of the election, as required by law, on Nov. 28 at 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>State certification is set for Dec. 5.<\/p>\n<div class=\"author_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"one_author_block
