Accordingly, the company went <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiercehealthcare.com\/tech\/telehealth-company-amwell-spikes-public-debut-outsized-742m-ipo\">public<\/a> in September 2020.<\/p>\n<p>AmWell had previously received one grant during the Obama-Biden administration in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaspending.gov\/award\/CONT_AWD_VA11811P0092_3600_-NONE-_-NONE-\">2011<\/a> from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for \u201ctelehealth care,\u201d but during the Biden administration, it has seen its receipt of federal grants skyrocket.<\/p>\n<p>Since the inauguration of President Biden, AmWell has received a never-before-seen number of grants and contracts from federal agencies including the VA, Department of Defense (DOD), Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and Department of Health And Human Services (HHS).<\/p>\n<p>A grant from the DOD for services described by a U.S. government database as providing a \u201cvirtual health enterprise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaspending.gov\/award\/CONT_AWD_HT001521P0006_9700_-NONE-_-NONE-\">platform<\/a>\u201d has resulted in\u00a0<span>$314,250 in taxpayer funds going to AmWell during the Biden administration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s Department of Veterans Affairs also awarded a subsidiary of AmWell a $120,000 grant for its services, described as the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaspending.gov\/award\/CONT_AWD_36C10X21P0051_3600_-NONE-_-NONE-\">implementation<\/a> of leading digital mental and behavioral health platform for veterans enrolled in VHA mental health care to increase access to mental health care during Covid-19 pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The grant began on April 14, 2021, less than three months into the Biden administration, and concluded on September 30, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>An additional $30,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaspending.gov\/award\/CONT_AWD_36C24521P0534_3600_-NONE-_-NONE-\">grant<\/a> from the VA to the AmWell subsidiary Silvercloud for \u201ccustomizable mobile mental health <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaspending.gov\/award\/CONT_AWD_36C24521P0534_3600_-NONE-_-NONE-\">treatment<\/a>\u201d ran from September 27th, 2021 to September 26th, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>AmWell has also received two six-figure payments from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) \u2013 worth $<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaspending.gov\/award\/ASST_NON_RHCCCPP-21231641_2700\">318,750<\/a> and $<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaspending.gov\/award\/ASST_NON_RHCCCPP-22247011_2700\">233,750<\/a> \u2013 on June 30th, 2022 as part of a \u201cConnected Care\u201d pilot program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Rural Health Care (RHC) program supports health care facilities in bringing world class medical care to rural areas through increased connectivity,\u201d explains a summary of the initiative.<\/p>\n<p>AmWell has not previously received any grants from the FCC.<\/p>\n<p>Grants from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) have also supported other companies purchasing AmWell products, as the agency\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaspending.gov\/award\/CONT_AWD_75H70522P00002_7527_-NONE-_-NONE-\">allocated $57,914 to <\/a>technology firm CDW to purchase an AmWell \u201ctelemedicine cart\u201d in October 2021.<\/p>\n<p>AmWell\u2019s website also contains a <a href=\"https:\/\/business.amwell.com\/government\/\">page<\/a> promoting its service \u201cVirtual Healthcare for Government Agencies,\u201d claiming that \u201ct<span>elehealth is a powerful tool that can help government agencies increase readiness, improve health outcomes, and lower costs.\u201d Among the resources listed on the page is a webinar titled \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/business.amwell.com\/resources\/prepping-for-federal-grant-success-in-2022\/\">Prepping for Federal Grant Success in 2022.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<figure administration comes amidst emails on Hunter Biden\u2019s hard drive showing the president\u2019s son promising to leverage his connections to the government to help the company \u201cincrease revenue and improve profitability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The stunning promise was made in an April 10th, 2014 email to the then-Vice President\u2019s son from Neil Callahan, a co-founder of Hunter Biden\u2019s investment firm Rosemont Seneca Technology Partners (RSTP).<\/p>\n<p>Titled \u201cAmWell Email Talking Points,\u201d the email from Callahan provides Hunter Biden with details about for an upcoming meeting about potentially investing in the company.
