Americans\u2019 Concern Over COVID Drops To Just 28%, Poll Finds"},"content":{"rendered":"<aside class=\"mashsb-container mashsb-main mashsb-stretched\"><div class=\"mashsb-box\"><div class=\"mashsb-count mash-medium\" style=\"&quot;\"><div class=\"counts mashsbcount\">26<\/div><span class=\"mashsb-sharetext\">SHARES<\/span><\/div><div class=\"mashsb-buttons\"><a class=\"mashicon-facebook mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sharer.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.conservativenewsdaily.net%2Fbreaking-news%2Fwhat-me-worry-americans-concern-over-covid-drops-to-just-28-poll-finds%2F\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Facebook<\/span><\/a><a class=\"mashicon-twitter mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?text=&amp;url=https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/?p=1750687&amp;via=ConservNewsDly\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Twitter<\/span><\/a><a class=\"mashicon-subscribe mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"#\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Subscribe<\/span><\/a><div class=\"onoffswitch2 mash-medium mashsb-noshadow\" style=\"display:none\"><\/div><\/div>\n            <\/div>\n                <div style=\"clear:both\"><\/div><\/aside>\n            <!-- Share buttons by mashshare.net - Version: 4.0.47--><p>Even as health officials warn of a coming winter spike in COVID cases and the federal government urges millions of Americans to get a third booster, worry over the virus has dropped to just 28%, according to a new poll.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwenty-eight percent of Americans say they are \u2018very\u2019 or \u2018somewhat worried\u2019 they will get COVID \u2014 the lowest percentage Gallup has recorded since the summer of 2021,\u201d Gallup <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/404963\/worry-catching-covid-lowest-june-2021.aspx#:~:text=The%20latest%20findings,23%25%20in%20July.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The latest findings also show a new high of Americans say they believe the pandemic is \u201cover.\u201d And the survey found 78% of Americans, the highest to date, think it\u2019s best for Americans showing no symptoms to \u201clead their normal lives as much as possible and avoid interruptions to work and business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe same poll finds the smallest percentages of Americans yet reporting they are steering clear of specific situations because of the coronavirus, including avoiding large crowds (24%), avoiding travel by plane or public transportation (19%), avoiding going to public places (16%) and avoiding small gatherings (13%),\u201d Gallup reported. \u201cUse of face masks remains fairly common, but the 40% saying they have worn one in the past week when outside their home is also a new low during the pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Americans are no longer stringent about social distancing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbout six in 10 Americans (59%) say they have made no attempt to isolate themselves from people outside their household in the past 24 hours \u2014 the most eschewing social distancing since the beginning of the pandemic,\u201d the poll found. \u201cSixteen percent, similar to the level in April, now say they have completely or mostly isolated themselves from people outside their household, while 25% \u2014 the lowest reading since April 2020 \u2014 say they have isolated themselves partially or a little.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The latest Gallup poll follows another one from last month that found more Democrats than Republicans think there is still a pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmericans in all party groups have become more likely to say the pandemic is over since July, including increases of 12 points among Republicans, 14 points among Democrats and 10 points among independents,\u201d Gallup <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/404696\/pandemic-outlook-recovers-leaders-messaging-falters.aspx?utm_source=twitter&#038;utm_medium=o_social&#038;utm_term=gallupnews&#038;utm_content=60bb079a-4165-45ca-8ff2-cae3176f7d95\">found.<\/a>\u00a0\u201cIndependents also broadly agree that the situation is improving (62%). All three groups have roughly returned to the levels last seen in February and April after cases were down from the January surge in infections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, Republicans are the only party with a majority saying the pandemic is over. Republicans are more than three times as likely as Democrats to say this, at 73% vs. 21%, while 48% of independents agree. Despite the fact that Biden has said he believes the pandemic is over, a majority of his party\u2019s faithful, 79%, do not concur.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s right \u2014 in July, just 7% of Democrats thought the pandemic was \u201cover.\u201d And that number is still just 21% in November, even though President Joe Biden made a major declaration a couple of months ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe pandemic is over,\u201d Biden said in a \u201c60 Minutes\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-shocks-white-house-by-declaring-pandemic-is-over-while-hundreds-of-americans-die-every-day\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> that aired September 18. \u201cWe still have a problem with COVID. We\u2019re still doing a lot of work on it. But the pandemic is over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That confident assertion didn\u2019t last long. The scaremongers in the White House, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, the resident Debbie Downer, immediately walked back the statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not where we need to be if we are going to quote, \u2018live with the virus,&#8217;\u201d Fauci, Biden\u2019s chief medical adviser, said the following day. \u201cWe still must be aware of how unusual this virus is and continues to be in its ability to evolve into new variants which defy the standard public health mechanisms of addressing an outbreak.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The views expressed in this piece are the author\u2019s own and do not necessarily represent those of The Daily Wire.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Joseph Curl has covered politics for 35 years, including 12 years as White House correspondent for a national newspaper.
