Jackson<\/em> ruling overturning <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.studentsforlifeaction.org\/what-you-need-to-know-states-that-have-passed-life-saving-laws-prohibiting-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pro-life protections<\/a> in states around the country have led dozens of abortion facilities to close their doors. But the pro-abortion industry is working overtime to fill the gap with another version of the deadly atrocity: the abortion pill. <\/p>\n<p>Even though the abortion pill delivers a painful death to unborn babies and also poses significant risks to mothers, it\u2019s still approved by U.S. health officials. But that needs to change, argues a new lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>Four pro-life medical organizations and four doctors filed a lawsuit in a Texas federal court last week against the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Department of Health and Human Services to reverse the approval of the abortion pill called mifepristone, which currently allows mothers to kill their unborn child up through the 10th week of pregnancy. They are represented by Alliance Defending Freedom, which also played a key role in the <em>Dobbs <\/em>case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[T]he FDA failed America\u2019s women and girls when it chose politics over science and approved chemical abortion drugs for use in the United States,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/adfmedialegalfiles.blob.core.windows.net\/files\/AllianceForHippocraticMedicineComplaint.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">complaint<\/a> states. \u201cAnd it has continued to fail them by repeatedly removing even the most basic precautionary requirements associated with their use.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As The Wall Street Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/lawsuit-filed-to-reverse-approval-access-to-abortion-pill-11668796816\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">summarized<\/a>, the lawsuit argues that \u201cthe FDA exceeded its authority to approve the drug because the agency used a process meant for treatments of serious or life-threatening illnesses, and there wasn\u2019t scientific evidence to support the approval and other decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When a woman <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/01\/10\/contrary-to-media-reports-new-abortion-pill-study-finds-it-endangers-women-and-reversal-works\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">takes<\/a> an abortion pill, commonly known as a chemical abortion, she first takes mifepristone to stop him from receiving nutrients, consequently starving him. Then, the mother takes misoprostol, \u201cwhich induces contractions to expel the dead or dying child,\u201d as Tara Sander Lee and Michael Valley explained in these pages. The pill is not treating \u201cserious or life-threatening illnesses,\u201d but by approving it, the FDA has rubber-stamped the murder of unborn children throughout the nation.<\/p>\n<p>While pro-abortion circles <a href=\"https:\/\/nwhn.org\/safe-online-delivered-how-to-get-the-abortion-pill-by-mail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">push<\/a> the narrative that the pill designed to end the life of an unborn child is \u201csafe and effective,\u201d multiple reports point to the opposite conclusion. In a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/01\/10\/contrary-to-media-reports-new-abortion-pill-study-finds-it-endangers-women-and-reversal-works\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">study<\/a> meant to analyze abortion pill reversal, researchers actually had to halt the study due to \u201csafety concerns\u201d for those who <em>did not<\/em> take the reversal medication, progesterone, after taking mifepristone. Forty percent of the women who took the abortion pill \u201cand did not take progesterone, required emergency surgery, and one required a transfusion.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Additional <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/17\/biden-administration-endorses-more-baby-killing-by-green-lighting-mail-order-abortion-pills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">data<\/a> points to, as The Federalist\u2019s Jordan Boyd reported last year, a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/full\/10.1177\/23333928211053965\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">500 percent increase<\/a>\u00a0in emergency room visits due to complications with chemical abortions\u201d\u2013the antithesis of what abortion proponents would describe as \u201csafe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And the FDA itself has admitted that the approved abortion pill is deadly. Updated data from the FDA concluded there have been at least 26 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/drugs\/postmarket-drug-safety-information-patients-and-providers\/questions-and-answers-mifeprex\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> deaths of women as of June 30, 2021 \u201cassociated with mifepristone since the product was approved in September 2000, including two cases of ectopic<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to the Supreme Court\u2019s Dobbs v.
