Instead, it is a unique blend of two carp species: leather and koi.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/bigger-fish-bowl-221121-56.jpg\" alt=\"\" The Carrot was in there but never thought I would catch it \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Facebook\/Bluewater Lakes<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI always knew The Carrot was in there but never thought I would catch it,\u201d Hackett explained.<\/p>\n<p>Hackett explains that it didn\u2019t take him long to realize he had hooked a special fish.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I knew it was a big fish when it took my bait and went off side to side and up and down with it,\u201d Hackett said. \u201cThen it came to the surface 30 or 40 yards out and I saw that it was orange.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018It was brilliant to catch it but it was also sheer luck,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The previous record for a goldfish or variant goldfish species was set in 2019 when an angler in Minnesota <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gismeteo.com\/news\/current-events\/30855-fisherman-catches-100-year-old-goldfish\/\">hauled in<\/a> a 30-pound Bigmouth Buffalo believed to be 100 years old. \u201cThe Carrot,\u201d a comparatively youthful fish thought to be only 20 years old, officially weighed in at 67.4 pounds.<\/p>\n<p>The good news for The Carrot, besides suddenly becoming famous, is that he is still alive and well.
