They sing, \u2018rain, rain come today,\u2019 and they run out in it, because we need it,\u201d he explains, noting the drought they\u2019ve experienced. \u201cIt\u2019s just connected us, not just to nature, but to the natural life cycles all around us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Van Der Beek had previously gone public with his excitement over leaving city life for the wide open spaces of Texas. He and Kimberly share daughters Olivia, 12, Annabel, 8, Emilia, 6, and Gwendolyn, 4, along with sons Joshua, 10, and Jeremiah, who just turned 1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe love it. We have a lot more space,\u201d the actor said in June, as The Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/james-van-der-beek-reflects-on-moving-to-texas-says-return-to-hollywood-would-have-to-fit-around-his-family\">reported<\/a>. \u201cWe all need a more immediate connection to nature. It\u2019s been a really, really great move and the kids are really happy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe parks have been amazing,\u201d he continued. \u201cWe\u2019ve been going to state parks and the national parks. It\u2019s just one of the benefits of getting out of the big city was getting to a place where we could just have more space right outside our door. It\u2019s a very, it\u2019s a very different life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe watch the sunset,\u201d he continued. \u201cWe can actually see stars, which is a new thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During his recent conversation with People, Van Der Beek also revealed how much his youngest son, Jeremiah, has made their family stronger. The actor said his son \u201canchors the family in a really beautiful way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything really is bigger in Texas,\u201d he said. \u201cHe\u2019s by far the biggest baby we\u2019ve ever made by a long shot. He\u2019s really been a blessing.
