On Dec. 5, he will finally have his first day in court.<\/p>\n<p>As previously reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/exclusive-letter-from-jan-6-prisoner-to-americans-dont-do-nothing_4399831.html\">The Epoch Times<\/a>, Brown\u2014a 20-year retired U.S. Army Special Forces Combat Veteran\u2014was arrested on Sept. 30, 2021, by approximately 30 to 40 heavily armed federal agents and local law enforcement at his home in Tampa, Florida.\u00a0He had been at the capital on Jan. 5 and 6, 2021, as part of an all-volunteer protective detail tasked with providing security for organizers and speakers at a legally permitted political rally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOddly, in the nine months prior to that day, I had never been contacted or questioned by any investigators about this case,\u201d Brown had written in a letter (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/21584096-12-31-21-letter-from-jail\">pdf<\/a>), obtained exclusively by The Epoch Times. \u201cStranger still, the arrest warrant and search warrant had only been granted one day prior. This, despite numerous members of my Protective Detail having been arrested many months prior. While this may sound unusual to you, I know exactly why it happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Brown, the same agents who arrested him on Sept. 30, 2021, had tried to recruit him as a Confidential Informant (CI) on Dec. 9, 2020, to \u201cinfiltrate law-abiding citizen groups.\u201d He declined their offer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I\u2019ve been held in maximum security jail for 414 days in a row,\u201d Brown told The Epoch Times by phone from the\u00a0Pinellas County Jail in St. Petersburg, Florida, \u201cI am innocent until proven guilty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While unsuccessful, Brown also launched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/exclusive-jan-6-prisoner-running-for-florida-state-house-from-jail-cell_4474297.html\">a campaign<\/a> for a seat in the Florida House from jail.\u00a0Cathi Chamberlain\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/muckrack.com\/cathi-chamberlain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">journalist<\/a>, podcaster, and author\u2014served as Brown\u2019s \u201ccampaign commander.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis attorney is trying to get him to take a plea deal,\u201d Chamberlain told The Epoch Times. \u201cBut he won\u2019t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brown\u2019s court date, scheduled for Dec. 5, will be held in the Florida Middle District Court in Tampa. But he believes the government will try to keep people out of the courtroom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey don\u2019t want anything to be revealed,\u201d Brown said. \u201cThey\u2019re doing everything they can to avoid what they know is coming. If I had to make a prediction, they are going to try to limit the amount of publicity my trial gets. But I am going to make sure I get my Sixth Amendment rights upheld.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/constitution.congress.gov\/constitution\/amendment-6\/\">Sixth Amendment<\/a> guarantees the rights of criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/wex\/speedy_trial\">without unnecessary delay<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/wex\/right_to_counsel\">right to a lawyer<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/constitution-conan\/amendment-6\/right-to-trial-by-impartial-jury\">right to an impartial jury<\/a>, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/wex\/Right_to_confront_witness\">right to know who your accusers are.<\/a>\u00a0The accused also have the right to know the nature of the charges and what evidence their accuser has against them.<\/p>\n<p>While Brown has not had any face-to-face human contact since his arrest over 13 months ago, he has maintained his sense of humor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt least I will be able to wear real clothes for the first time in over a year,\u201d he laughed.<\/p>\n<div class=\"author_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"one_author_block round\">\n<div class=\"top_row\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/author-patricia-tolson\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Patricia-Tolson.jpg\" alt=\"Patricia Tolson\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Follow<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bio\">Patricia Tolson, an award-winning national investigative reporter with 20 years of experience, has worked for such news outlets as Yahoo!, U.S. News, and The Tampa Free Press.
