The injured were transported to local hospitals. The driver of the SUV was taken into police custody, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boston25news.com\/news\/local\/unthinkable-1-killed-19-hurt-after-suv-barrels-through-front-apple-store-hingham-da-says\/MY4QFLYZBNCZPFUOMTWX6OYMQE\/\">according<\/a> to local <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcvb.com\/article\/hingham-massachusetts-vehicle-crashes-into-apple-store\/42025703#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Jason Tracy, Chief of Emergency Medicine at South Shore Hospital, said he treated the injured, which included victims with head wounds, lower extremity issues, and \u201cmangled limbs.\u201d Some sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the hospital\u2019s trauma chief Dr. Chris Burns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had multiple resources respond to the hospital including additional surgeons and additional support staff,\u201d Tracy added. \u201cWe were very well staffed at this time considering the day of the week and the time of the day.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Apple said the person killed was a construction worker who was on the job at the shop. \u201cWe are devastated by the shocking events at Apple Derby Street today and the tragic loss of a professional who was onsite supporting recent construction at the store,\u201d Apple <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcvb.com\/article\/hingham-massachusetts-vehicle-crashes-into-apple-store\/42025703#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>. \u201cOur hearts go out to our team members and customers who were injured and all of those who were affected by this terrible incident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Video captured after the deadly crash showed a hole in the front of the store where the vehicle had busted through the glass.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">DEVELOPING \u2014 White tents have been set up outside of an Apple Store in Hingham, where a car crashed through a glass facade, leaving many people injured: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jwe6WMCS4C\">https:\/\/t.co\/jwe6WMCS4C<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/phWTDeduW8\">pic.twitter.com\/phWTDeduW8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Boston 25 News (@boston25) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/boston25\/status\/1594752624204595219?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 21, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>During a news conference following the incident, Hingham Fire Chief Steve Murphy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/11\/21\/us\/massachusetts-apple-store-car-crash\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> that crews arrived on the scene to find \u201cmultiple patients injured out in front of the store and in the store, including a few patients that were pinned against the wall by the vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No charges have yet been filed against the driver, but a criminal investigation is underway, according to Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz.<\/p>\n<p><em>This is a developing story; refresh the page for updates.<\/p>\n<p><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At least 19 people were injured and one person was killed after a vehicle barreled into an Apple store in Hingham, Massachusetts, Monday morning.
