Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), the likely next Speaker of the House, will visit the border on Tuesday to spotlight President Joe Biden\u2019s failure to curb the inflow of terror suspects and fentanyl.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">On \u201cTuesday, I\u2019m going down to the border again,\u201d McCarthy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?c5042103\/house-minority-leader-mccarthy-hearings-held-southern-border\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">declared<\/a> at a Saturday meeting of Republican supporters\u00a0 in Las Vegas, adding:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We\u2019re gonna get a new update [on the border] because you know why? When I become Speaker [of the House], we\u2019re going to move a hearing down on the border, and I\u2019m going make it bipartisan on both sides. Another promise I\u2019ll make you \u2014 I will not allow [Biden] to ignore it. As Speaker, I\u2019ll have the meeting there. Then make them all show and see what\u2019s happening.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Last week, Biden\u2019s pro-migration border deputies announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/11\/16\/bidens-deputies-will-not-appeal-judges-decision-to-open-the-border\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">they will not oppose<\/a> a judge\u2019s decision ending the Title 42 legal barrier at the border.<\/p>\n<p>Once the legal is removed, Biden\u2019s wealthy deputies will allow millions more migrants to crowd into U.S. workplaces and rental markets. That huge inflow will further cut ordinary Americans\u2019 wages and spike their housing costs.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"a8d-pre twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NEW: Thermal drone video from our team in Eagle Pass, TX shows a large group of migrants crossing illegally into private property early this morning. <br \/>Per CBP source, there have been over 1,400 illegal crossings in the Del Rio sector in the last 24 hours &#038; 69,000 since 10\/1. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/N1FjKVVuDa\">pic.twitter.com\/N1FjKVVuDa<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bill Melugin (@BillFOXLA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BillFOXLA\/status\/1593308030149439488?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 17, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>McCarthy\u2019s promises on immigration played a central role in the GOP\u2019s narrow win in the midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>So there is little chance he will allow many GOP legislators to endorse pro-migration policies.<\/p>\n<p>For example, 16 percent of GOP voters \u2013or one in six \u2014 told a <a href=\"https:\/\/harvardharrispoll.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/HHP_Nov2022_KeyResults.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harvard-Harris poll<\/a> that immigration was \u201cthe most important\u201d issue in determining their vote.<\/p>\n<p>That percentage beat the 10 percent who cited \u201ccrime\/safety issues,\u201d and was more than twice the 7 percent share of GOP voters who picked \u201cprotecting democracy,\u201d according to the November 16-17 survey of 2,212 registered voters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/img-0-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22648998\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/img-0-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"897\" height=\"435\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThere is no question that Republicans are more restrictionist than Democrats,\u201d the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/the-hidden-consensus-on-immigration-11668787136\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">admitted<\/a>\u00a0on November 18. \u201cAmong GOP voters, 49% want to decrease immigration levels while 13% want to increase them,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The critical support from migration opponents was won after McCarthy embraced the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/09\/07\/gop-leaders-promise-exclude-illegal-migrants-american-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2022 consensus report<\/a> by immigration reform groups.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRepublicans have a clear plan to secure our border:\u00a0Combat illegal immigration by requiring proof of legal status when applying for a job,\u201d said a subsequent McCarthy-backed GOP campaign document. The document was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/09\/07\/gop-leaders-promise-exclude-illegal-migrants-american-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sent to Republican candidates<\/a> in early August.<\/p>\n<p>The August document also included other important commitments by a Republican majority to curb illegal migration, such as restoring the Remain in Mexico program and ending the \u201ccatch and release\u201d policies that allow illegal migrants into U.S. jobs and housing via various border loopholes.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_22649028\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/11\/GettyImages-1240242398.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-22649028\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/GettyImages-1240242398-1024x683-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"990\" height=\"660\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Rep. (Photo by Jabin Botsford\/The Washington Post via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In October, McCarthy also denounced the establishment\u2019s preferred amnesty-for-border-security swap. \u201cI believe [President Joe] Biden has destroyed our border so badly,\u201d McCarthy\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/10\/19\/republican-mccarthy-no-more-comprehensive-migration-deals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a>\u00a0Punchbowl News, adding:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>You can\u2019t tie the two [amnesty and border security]. You\u2019ve got to just go fix the border to start out before you can deal with immigration. I just think it\u2019s too far broken. I don\u2019t think anyone\u2019s going to believe you if you tie the two together.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But GOP\u2019s 2022 election campaign downplayed the painful pocketbook impact of migration on blue-collar and white-collar families. Instead, it emphasized\u00a0drugs, E-Verify, terrorists, and crime. That zig-zag helped the party to maneuver between populist voters and pro-migration supporters and donors.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, McCarthy told his Las Vegas audience:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Do you know what is going to happen today? 300 Americans are going to be poisoned and die. Do you know what happens tomorrow? Three hundred more Americans are going to be poisoned and die. What all that fentanyl come from? From China to Mexico, to the cartels up here.<\/p>\n<p>You know what the equality of 300 Americans is? What\u2019s equal to that? An airliner crashing. What happened if an airliner would crash every day in America? We would all wake up and say \u2018We have a crisis!\u201d Would we not? And we want to do something about it.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re gonna get a new update [on the border] because you know why? When I become Speaker [of the House], we\u2019re going to move a hearing down on the border, and I\u2019m going make it bipartisan on both sides. Then make them all show and see what\u2019s happening.<\/p>\n<p>Do you know what is happening \u2014 fentanyl [is the]\u00a0\u00a0number one killer of Americans between the ages of 18 and 45. That\u2019s our most productive years in an economy. Those are the years of the individuals who serve in the military to defend us. It makes me wonder why would somebody target that generation in America. We should stop it and stop it now.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The next thing we\u2019re going to do is going make a nation that is safe. We\u2019re going to secure our borders. We\u2019re going to stop defunding the police and fund the police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/pressroom\/nchs_press_releases\/2021\/20211117.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">recently reported<\/a>\u00a0more than 100,000 drug overdose deaths during the 12-month period ending in April 2021, a 28.5% increase over the prior year,\u201d said\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.statnews.com\/2021\/12\/29\/deaths-of-despair-unrecognized-tragedy-working-class-immiseration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">a December 2021 report<\/a>\u00a0in StatNews.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Pro-migration groups, however, dispute the GOP\u2019s claim that Biden\u2019s border policies have spiked the transfer of fentanyl. Instead, they say the data shows that most of the fentanyl is smuggled inside vehicles that are part of the huge bidirectional flow of trucks between U.S. consumers and Mexican producers.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The overwhelming majority of fentanyl is smuggled into the United States through ports of entry, most commonly in passenger vehicles driven by US citizens.<\/p>\n<p>I analyzed 231 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CBP?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CBP<\/a> press releases\/Twitter posts reporting fentanyl seizures since December 2021.
