Switched cars at next stop to be in a public toilet \/ urine-odor, crowded car for the rest of my ride. This is @KathyHochul and @NYCMayor \u2019s NYC,&#8221; prompting Hannah-Jones to respond, &#8220;Yes, yes. This was absolutely unheard of on subways until two years ago.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>NYC <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/67-year-old-woman-beaten-and-robbed-in-nyc-subway\">subway crime<\/a> is up 41 percent this year with violent incidents that include marauders dressed all in green <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/gang-of-women-in-neon-green-bodysuits-attack-passengers-on-nyc-subway\">terrorizing straphangers<\/a>, victims <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/woman-thrown-on-to-brooklyn-subway-tracks-by-angry-ex-boyfriend\">thrown onto the tracks<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/14-year-old-boy-stabbed-to-death-in-nyc-subway\">children being stabbed<\/a> to death. <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/breaking-eric-adams-declares-state-of-emergency-in-nyc-over-border-crisis\">Mayor Eric Adams<\/a> told his citizens <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/as-crime-surges-eric-adams-tells-new-yorkers-subway-safety-is-up-to-them\">in October<\/a> that the solution to warding off violent criminals is to stop looking at phones and stop listening to music as New Yorkers make their ride.<\/p>\n<p>Chu responded to Hannah-Jones, &#8220;I\u2019ve been taking the subways since the 1980s. It\u2019s not new but it is more widespread and not getting better. Our electeds said they would address it but we haven\u2019t seen improvements. Why should we accept these conditions for our commute.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>Others took Hannah-Jones to task for her words.<\/p>\n<p>Maud Maron wrote, &#8220;Nikole grew up in Iowa. Yiatin grew up in Queens. Yiatin went to public school in Queens as an English language learner and commuted to Bronx Science as a teenager in the 80s\u2026some of us have decades of NYC living to draw on, not just the last two (admittedly garbage) years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>Nikole Hannah-Jones&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/1619-project-founder-loses-her-mind-after-valid-criticism-of-her-project\">1619 project<\/a> was so riddled with mistakes it was reissued, retracted, and even recategorized.
