Lauren Boebert\u2019s (R-CO) opponent conceded the election on Friday despite the race\u2019s razor-thin vote margin.<\/p>\n<p>Boebert leads local businessman and former Democrat city councilor Adam Frisch, 50.8% to 49.92%, with over 99% of the votes counted, <a href=\"https:\/\/results.decisiondeskhq.com\/national\/2022-house\">according to DecisionDeskHQ<\/a>. Under Colorado law, the extremely close margin would likely trigger a recount. Frisch, however, announced his concession on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe voters have spoken. And while we showed great progress, I remain down by a few hundred votes,\u201d Frisch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/adamforcolorado\/videos\/512184897299455\">said<\/a>. \u201cI just got off the phone with Rep. Boebert. I called her to formally concede this election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2022-election\/lauren-boebert-election-recount-rcna56317\">Multiple<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/2022-midterm-elections-colorado-lauren-boebert-c171f06f8166b0ff42421b57eb87c543\">outlets<\/a> have yet to call the race, though Frisch is unconvinced he would attain victory after a recount.<\/p>\n<p>Frisch said in his announcement, \u201cThe likelihood of this recount changing more than a handful of votes is very small. Very, very small. It would be disingenuous and unethical for us, or any other group \u2026 to continue to raise false hope and raise fundraising for a recount.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The tight race comes as a shock to Republicans, as Boebert was expected to easily secure re-election. The night before the election, FiveThirtyEight <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/2022-election-forecast\/house\/colorado\/3\/\">gave<\/a> Boebert \u201c97 in 100\u201d odds of winning.<\/p>\n<p>Boebert won her first race in 2020 by a more comfortable margin, <a href=\"https:\/\/results.decisiondeskhq.com\/national\/2020-house\">defeating<\/a> her Democrat opponent 51.39% to 45.22%, even though Colorado <a href=\"https:\/\/results.decisiondeskhq.com\/national\/2020-presidential\">voted to elect<\/a> Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Boebert\u2019s first term did not come without its controversies. During President Joe Biden\u2019s State of the Union address, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/boebert-heckles-biden-during-speech-as-he-talked-about-soldiers-in-coffins-you-put-them-in-13-of-them\">heckled<\/a> Biden over his disastrous pullout from Afghanistan that resulted in the deaths of 13 U.S. soldiers. She also attended Biden\u2019s speech <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/rep-boebert-wears-drill-baby-drill-outfit-to-biden-sotu\">in a dress<\/a> that read \u201cDrill Baby Drill,\u201d in reference to the troublesome energy policies that have characterized the Biden administration.<\/p>\n<p>The firebrand Republican has also not shied away from scuffles with other members of Congress. Last year, Boebert <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/lauren-boebert-trolls-aocs-tax-the-rich-dress-wears-lets-go-brandon-dress\">mocked<\/a> Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s (D-NY) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/therecount\/status\/1437563614685237253\">\u201cTax the Rich\u201d Met Gala dress<\/a> by wearing a \u201cLet\u2019s Go Brandon\u201d dress. She also got into hot water last year when she described an encounter with Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) as \u201cnot my first \u2018Jihad Squad\u2019 moment,\u201d though she later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/boebert-apologizes-to-muslim-community-for-omar-remark\">apologized<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Boebert\u2019s surprisingly close re-election follows the trend of the 2022 Midterm elections during which Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/republican-red-wave-stops-at-florida-as-initial-midterm-tallies-leave-house-senate-majorities-in-question\">fell short<\/a> of the expected red wave.
