Sporting a net worth of approximately <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-11-11\/bankman-fried-s-effective-altruism-implodes-with-his-fortunes?leadSource=uverify%20wall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$15.6 billion<\/a>, Bankman-Fried was the CEO of FTX, a cryptocurrency exchange platform launched in 2019 that had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/30-year-old-billionaire-loses-entire-fortune-overnight-as-his-bahamas-based-cryptocurrency-empire-implodes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accumulated<\/a> more than a million consumers by 2022. At 30 years old, he was extremely successful \u2014 that is, until last week when he was exposed as a con artist.<\/p>\n<p>After a Nov. 2 article from the digital currency news site <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2022\/11\/02\/divisions-in-sam-bankman-frieds-crypto-empire-blur-on-his-trading-titan-alamedas-balance-sheet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Coindesk<\/a> revealed that FTX and Bankman-Fried\u2019s cryptocurrency trading firm Alameda Research had notable overlaps on their balance sheets that called into question FTX\u2019s liquidity, users proceeded to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/30-year-old-billionaire-loses-entire-fortune-overnight-as-his-bahamas-based-cryptocurrency-empire-implodes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">withdraw<\/a> $6 billion from the company, leading to its bankruptcy. As Gizmodo <a href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/kevin-o-leary-bitcoin-ftx-ponzi-sam-bankman-fried-eth-1849788912\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, Bankman-Fried has \u201cadmitted to funneling\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/fintech-crypto-ftx-sbf-idCAKBN2S60CH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">billions of dollars<\/a>\u00a0in customer funds to his own hedge fund,\u201d which \u201cupend[ed] the entire cryptocurrency sector.\u201d Since his FTX\u2019s collapse, Bankman-Fried has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/sam-bankman-fried-ftx-collapse-improvising-cryptic-tweets-crypto-finance-2022-11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lost<\/a> nearly all of his accumulated wealth.<\/p>\n<p>While riding high as a crypto bro, Bankman-Fried utilized his fortunes to finance both left-wing causes and Democrat candidates. During the 2022 midterms, he was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/11\/15\/ftz-crypto-bankman-fried-democrats-midterms-campaigns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">second-largest donor<\/a> to Democrat candidates, spending roughly $37 million throughout the election cycle. Among the beneficiaries of his mega-dollar donations were left-wing political action committees, such as Protect Our Future, and the Democratic National Committee.<\/p>\n<p>And while Bankman-Fried\u2019s financial donations certainly deserve to be scrutinized, it\u2019s also worth taking a glance at the numerous public figures, especially Democrats, who surrounded themselves with the former crypto tycoon over the years \u2014 as well as those who plan to do so in the near future.<\/p>\n<p> Bill Clinton and Tony Blair <\/p>\n<p>In addition to both being former world leaders, Bill Clinton in the U.S. and Tony Blair in the U.K., these two men have ties to FTX. Back in April, Clinton and Blair <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/flashback-bill-clinton-hung-bankman-200029916.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">participated<\/a> in a panel hosted by Bankman-Fried at an event called 2022 Crypto Bahamas. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/flashback-bill-clinton-hung-bankman-200029916.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox Business<\/a>, Clinton was compensated for his appearance.<\/p>\n<p>  Rep. Maxine Waters <\/p>\n<p>In her role as head of the House Financial Services Committee, California Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters recently <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/3738075-house-committee-announces-hearing-into-ftx-collapse-featuring-bankman-fried\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> that the body will hold a hearing next month over FTX\u2019s bankruptcy. Despite her attempts to look tough, Waters has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/maxine-waters-dodges-question-ftx-democrat-ties-claims-both-sides-got-money\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">declined<\/a> to say whether candidates that received campaign donations from FTX should return such funds.
