However, he stated in the documents that \u201ccertain real estate was recorded in the personal name of these employees and advisors\u201d in an unusual arrangement.<\/p>\n<p>It would be difficult to reclaim these homes since they aren\u2019t in the company\u2019s name, and there are no records of these transactions, Ray said.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">He wrote in the documents that the crypto exchange failed to maintain disbursement or security controls and proper books and records, noting that employees submitted reimbursement requests through an online chat platform and with personalized emojis. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983=\"201341983\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4865877\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/11\/16\/GettyImages-1440531039-1200x800.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy size-medium wp-image-4865877\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/themes\/eet\/images\/white.png\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/GettyImages-1440531039-600x400-1.jpg\" alt=\"Epoch Times Photo\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4865877\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/GettyImages-1440531039-600x400-1.jpg\" alt=\"Epoch Times Photo\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a> The FTX website is seen on a computer in Atlanta on Nov. 10, 2022. Santiago\/Getty Images)<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe debtors did not have the type of disbursement controls that I believe are appropriate for a business enterprise,\u201d the new CEO said. \u201cFor example, employees of the FTX Group submitted payment requests through an online \u2018chat\u2019 platform where a disparate group of supervisors approved disbursements by responding with personalized emojis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ray conceded that he doesn\u2019t possess any confidence in the balance sheet statements of FTX and its affiliated companies, including Alameda Research.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe debtors do not have an accounting department,\u201d he said, noting that it might take time to prepare reliable financial statements.<\/p>\n<p>Ray revealed that he hadn\u2019t been able to locate some of FTX\u2019s employees, suggesting that they either fled or didn\u2019t exist.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt this time, the debtors have been unable to prepare a complete list of who worked for the FTX Group,\u201d he said. \u201cRepeated attempts to locate certain presumed employees to confirm their status have been unsuccessful to date.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, FTX filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.<\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Alameda Research Loans Billions <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983=\"201341983\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It was recently reported that Alameda Research, an investment fund started by (former) FTX CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-sam-bankman-fried\">Sam Bankman-Fried<\/a>, quietly borrowed billions in FTX client funds and then traded the deposits without explicit consent.<\/p>\n<p>That violated FTX\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/help.ftx.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360024788391-FTX-Terms-of-Service\">terms of service<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou control the Digital Assets held in your Account. Title to your Digital Assets shall at all times remain with you and shall not transfer to FTX Trading,\u201d Section 8.2 of the terms of service states. \u201cNone of the Digital Assets in your Account are the property of, or shall or may be loaned to, FTX Trading; FTX Trading does not represent or treat Digital Assets in User\u2019s Accounts as belonging to FTX Trading.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison admitted that she, Bankman-Fried, and other executives knew about transferring customer funds to the investment firm, The Wall Street Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/alameda-ftx-executives-are-said-to-have-known-ftx-was-using-customer-funds-11668264238\">reported,<\/a> citing people familiar with the situation.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">At the same time, a bankruptcy court filing revealed that Bankman-Fried and others received $4.1 billion in combined loans from Alameda. This included a $1 billion loan to Bankman-Fried and $2.3 billion to FTX subsidiary Paper Bird. Alameda also extended a $543 million loan to Nishad Singh, head of engineering at FTX, and $55 million to Ryan Salame, head of FTX Digital Markets.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983=\"201341983\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A Black Hole <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983=\"201341983\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The FTX saga continues to unfold, with new developments regularly revealed. But what comes next?<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) told The Epoch Times that the link between FTX, Ukraine, and the Democratic Party is suspicious and that House Republicans will most likely look into it during the next session of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>According to Gabriella Kusz, CEO of the Global Digital Asset and Cryptocurrency Association, many firms have been public about their exposure to FTX and its native token, FTT. But her organization is going further by writing an <a href=\"https:\/\/global-dca.org\/an-open-letter-to-the-digital-assets-industry-from-the-members-of-the-global-dca\/\">open letter<\/a> to the crypto industry about core principles that can help the sector move forward and renew its health and reputation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not the end for the crypto industry\u2014the Global DCA is already moving to advance industry discipline and the vehicle for ensuring alignment with the six core principles\u2014credible self-regulation oriented in the public interest,\u201d she told The Epoch Times. \u201cWhat does this mean, exactly? Good industry actors coming together in a public-private partnership with government regulators and legislators to help drive industry standards, guidance, and stewardship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the doom and gloom surrounding the crypto industry, Giorgi Khazaradze, CEO of the crypto platform and ecosystem Aurox, thinks the decentralized finance space will \u201cshine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are seeing tokens leaving exchanges and people withdrawing from custodial services because trust is lost with cryptocurrency.
